2、an organisation devoted to international co-operation and exchange ofinformation among its member countries on all matters relating to the art and science of lighting. Its membership consists ofthe National Committees in 38 countries and one geographical area and of 8 associate members.The objective

3、s of the CIE are:1. To provide an international forum for the discussion of all matters relating to the science, technology and art in the fieldsof light and lighting and for the interchange of information in these fields between countries.2. To develop basic standards and procedures of metrology in

4、 the fields of light and lighting.3. To provide guidance in the application of principles and procedures in the development of international and nationalstandards in the fields of light and lighting.4. To prepare and publish standards, reports and other publications concerned with all matters relati

5、ng to the science,technology and art in the fields of light and lighting.5. To maintain liaison and technical interaction with other international organisations concerned with matters related to thescience, technology, standardisation and art in the fields of light and lighting.The work of the CIE i

6、s carried on by seven Divisions each with about 20 Technical Committees. This work covers subjectsranging from fundamental matters to all types of lighting applications. The standards and technical reports developed bythese international Divisions of the CIE are accepted throughout the world.A plena

7、ry session is held every four years at which the work of the Divisions and Technical Committees is reviewed, reportedand plans are made for the future. The CIE is recognised as the authority on all aspects of light and lighting. As such itoccupies an important position among international organisati

Liaison und technische Zusammenarbeit mit anderen internationalen Organisationen zu unterhalten, die mit Fragen derWissenschaft, Technik, Normung und Kunst auf dem Gebiet der Lichttechnik zu tun

Theboundary between professional imagecreators and amateurs is being blurred.All this creates a need to rethink theissues of efficiency and effectiveness.How do we design an appropriate formatfor transmitting the data if we are not surewhere the images are going? An answer

24、that immediate comes to mind is totransmit the images using a standardcolour space.The selection of an appropriatecolour space is no easy matter. In 1999,the International ElectrotechnicalCommission made a first attempt atanswering this question with their sRGBcolour encoding. This produced anencodi

25、ng that represented the colourgamut of a typical cathode ray tube (CRT)using red, green, and blue device controlvalues. While this space has proveduseful in a number of areas, it is notadequate for all purposes. Many peopleperceive a need for a standard colourspace that covers a gamut of colourslarg

26、er than that of a CRT.Accordingly, on 11 November 2000,the CIE held an Expert Symposium onExtended Range Colour Encodings. Webrought together experts from standardsbodies, academia, and industry. Theydiscussed extended range colourencodings for digital photography,multimedia, graphic arts, colour an

27、dInternet facsimile, television and digitalcinema. Speakers were asked to describethe problems to be solved, the criteria forsolutions, and what spaces have beenproposed and developed. After the invitedpresentations, there was an opendiscussion session.These Proceedings include papersprovided by the

28、 invited speakers and atranscript of the open discussion. Forthose who were present, we hope that itboth refreshes your memory and expandsupon the issues presented in the meeting.For those who did not attend, we think thiswill give an overview of what happened inthe meeting and may spur further thou
