28、tandard permits a smaller design of the bolted parts, compared to when using hexagon nuts, as hexagon nuts require larger pitch circle diameters and centre-to-centre distances for the same thread diameter, due to the larger size of the hexagon. Dimension l3 permits a depth of bolt engagement which c
29、orresponds with a minimum bearing thread length of 0,9 the nominal diameter of thread D and which permits a gradation of bolt length in increments of 5 mm to 5 mm. However, it was necessary to provide for a slope of 45 from diameter g to diameter d4to ensure that a minimum clearance a remains betwee
30、n the bolt end face and the end face of the undercut in accordance with DIN 2510-1. Bore d4serves to accommodate the point carrying the widths across flats for stud-bolts and studs according to DIN 2510-3 and DIN 2510-4. Cap nuts above size M56 are equipped with a bore hole of thread size M481,5, in order to enable a heating rod to be inserted into the heating bore of the bolt, thus ensuring that the heating bore can be closed with a screw plug. Cap nuts can be manufactured with either a 120 countersunk or a horizontal (if manufactured with indexable insert drills) bottom of bore.
