3、tandard applies to high-density polyethylene (HDPE) tapping valves. Tapping valves covered by this standard are intended for welding to HDPE pipes as specified in DIN 8075 “1, with dimensions in accordance with DIN 8074 Part 1 or Part 2. The specifications of DIN 16 963 Part 5, July 1977 edition, ta
4、ble 3 are applicable to the permissible working pressures in the case of liquid flow media, and the specifications of D VGW-Arbeitsblatt (Data sheet) G 477 are applicable to the permissible working pressures in the case of combustible gases. 2 Requirements 2.1 Material In the case of potable water p
5、iping systems, only materials shall be used that are not likely to impart either taste, odour or colour to the drinking water, or any substances injurious to health in amounts which could be prejudicial to hygiene. The formation of algae and the growth of bacteria shall not be fostered. The stipulat
6、ions made in the Mitteilungen aus dem Bundesgesundheitsamt (Federal Board of Health Bulletin) on the “Hygienic evaluation of plastic materials within the framework of the Foodstuffs Act“ shall be regarded as authoritative in this respect. 2.1.1 Valves Valves shall be made of highdensity stabilized p
7、oly- ethylene (as a general rule, stabilized with carbon black and suitable antioxidants). Moulding materials of uncontrolled composition shall not be used. The choice of stabilizer and of other auxiliary materials is left to the discretion of the manufacturer of the tapping valve. 2.1.2 Seals The m
8、aterials shall be selected according to the nature of the flow medium. DIN 3535 Part 3 shall be applicable to valves in gas installations. 2.2 Condition on supply Tapping valves shall be free from any shrink holes, inhomogeneities, bubbles and burr which might impair proper functioning. 2.3 Strength
9、 properties Tapping valves shall meet the strength requirements given in table 1 during the long-term hydrostatic pressure test in accordance with subclause 3.2. Table 1. 10、r leak nor suffer any fracture during the prescribed duration of the test. Rubber-sealed connections shall be safeguarded against deformations which might result in premature leakage. 2.4 Surface finish Tapping valves shall exhibit a smooth surface appropriate to the manufacturing process at the tim
11、e of the inspec- tion in accordance with subclause 3.3. There shall be no signs of burnt patches due to overheating during manufacture. 2.5 Dimensions DIN 3543 Part4 shall apply to the dimensions of tapping valves. Any dimensions which are not specified in the above-mentioned standard shall be selec
12、ted by the manufacturer in such a way that, apart from the strength requirements laid down in subclause 2.3, the additional stresses likely to occur in practical use can be absorbed by the tapping valves. 3 Testing 3.1 Point in time for performance of tests All tests shall not be performed any earli
13、er than 15 hours after completion of manufacture of the tapping valves. 3.2 Long-term hydrostatic presuie test 3.2.1 Three tapping valves shall be tested for each of the test conditions described in table 1. 3.2.2 The tests shall be carried out on complete tapping valves including their connections,

16、ping valve shall be welded on centrically. The piping shall be fitted with seals on both ends in such a way that the axial forces arising from the internal pres- sure are transmitted to the welded joints. The specimen shall be capable of moving without hindrance in all directions. The pipe with tapp
17、ing valve welded onto it shall then be drilled with the maximum drilling diameter correlated to the valve concerned. 3.2.3 The specimens arranged in accordance with sub- clause 3.2.2 shall then be filled with water at the test temperature specified in table 1 (permissible deviations: f 5 K) through
18、an orifice in one of the seals capable of being closed subsequently, and placed in a water bath containing water maintained at test temperature (permissible deviations: f 1 K) and left in the bath for one hour to allow temperature equilibrium to be reached. 3.2.4 Then the test pressure in accordance
19、 with table 1 shall be applied to the specimens inside the bath within a time not exceeding 10 to 15 seconds, and maintained during the test period specified in table 1, with a permis- sible deviation of I2,5%. 3.2.5 It shall be checked whether the tapping valve subjected to the test has developed a
20、 leak or fractures during the specified test period. Tests in which leaks or fractures in the welded piping or in the clamping device have occured during the specified test period shall not be evaluated and shall be repeated. 3.3 Surface finish The external surface, and also the internal surface as
21、far as possible, shall be examined visually, using a suitable light source. 3.4 Dimensions The dimensions shall be checked with the aid of suitable measuring instruments. 3.5 Certificate If agreed, a certificate in accordance with DIN 50 O49 shall be issued in respect of the tests carried out at the
22、 manufacturers works.
