、definitions in DIN 67510-1 to DIN 67510-3 and DIN 4844 (all parts) apply. 4 Requirements and tests 4.1 General The properties, requirements, measurements and tests for phosphorescent products that can be used individually or in an escape route system are listed in Clause 4 and in Table 1. The tests
、shall each be carried out on the finished product. NOTE 1 The requirements specified here are intended to ensure that phosphorescent safety markings in “normal” applications are sufficiently protected from environmental effects. For applications in particular conditions, special requirements can be
、defined. NOTE 2 International comparative tests (proficiency tests) of the luminance of phosphorescent materials were carried out by staff of Working Committee FNL 19 with the participation of the Bundesanstalt fr Materialforschung und -prfung, Berlin (BAM) (Federal Institute for Materials Research
、and Testing in Berlin) and with the involvement of the American Society for the Testing of Materials (ASTM E 12.13). 4.2 Products 4.2.1 Mouldings and extruded products Mouldings and extruded products, as well as the products that can be made from them, can be manufactured from various plastic carrie
、r materials mixed with phosphorescent pigments. For quality assurance purposes, a sample shall be prepared from each production batch: a) shape: round, 50 mm diameter; b) the layer structure of the sample shall be the same as that of the product. NOTE For processing phosphorescent granules, it is ad
、visable to use equipment such as reciprocating injection moulding machines or single-screw extruders which allow gentle handling. The processing temperatures and injection speeds are based on the manufacturers information. 4.2.2 Coatings Coatings are tested by the manufacturer using reference sample
、s, which shall be prepared according to the manufacturers instructions. Coatings shall be applied to a suitable, stable, white background with an even layer thickness. NOTE The white background performs the function of a reflective layer. Other properties such as durability, slip-resistance, adhesio
、n, wear resistance and chemical resistance shall be agreed separately. DIN 67510-4:2008-02 7 Examples of coating applications: a) Single-component acrylates Abrasion-resistant single-component acrylates are used to make markings on vertical surfaces (wall markings). b) Two-component epoxy resins Coa
、tings made from two-component epoxy resins are suitable for mineral surfaces, metallic surfaces and floor surfaces. c) Single- or two-component polyurethane coatings Single- or two-component polyurethane coatings are suitable for use on flexible surfaces which are susceptible to vibrations. d) Epoxy
、 casting resin/compound e) Epoxy casting resin/compound is a solvent-free, highly filled reactive polymer which hardens without shrinking. Products made from it, such as mouldings or floor markings, can be manufactured at room temperature. Products made of epoxy casting resin/compound are suitable f
、or floor markings in areas of heavy traffic. 4.2.3 Plastic films and plates Plastic films and plates are phosphorescent polymer substrate materials and can be used as semi-finished products (e.g. signs) or as end products. NOTE The suitability of adhesives and printing inks shall be examined before
、use. Shrinkage of individual layers shall be taken into account. 4.2.4 Metal and plastic signs Signs within the meaning of this standard are safety signs for which white phosphorescent products are used as the contrast colour on substrate materials such as metal or plastic. The design principles are
、 based on BGV A 8, DIN 4844-2 and the regulations of the responsible supervisory authority. 4.2.5 Ceramics, glass and enamel Phosphorescent pigments can be mixed into suitable ceramic, glass or enamel products. 4.2.6 Synthetic floor coverings Synthetic floor coverings can be used to cover floors, sk
、irting boards and stairs. 4.2.7 Marking arrows Marking arrows can be made of various materials. For floor and wall markings, arrows in accordance with ISO 7001:1990 shall be used. It is possible to omit the shaft of the arrow. DIN 67510-4:2008-02 8 4.3 Information on test conditions and samples 4.3.
、1 Preparation of samples Separate samples shall be prepared for each of the tests to be performed. A reference sample that has not been subjected to exposure shall be provided for visual tests. Test samples shall correspond to the series production and the manufacturers specifications. All tests sha
、ll be carried out on the actual safety products. Exceptions are only permitted if the test requires the sample to have certain dimensions or if the graphical design has no effect on the result of the test. 4.3.2 Number of test samples There shall be a sufficient number of test samples to enable the
、test results to be reproduced. For tests with a quantitative result and where there are doubts as to the reproducibility of the result, at least three samples shall be tested, unless the test method prescribes a different number of test samples. 4.3.3 Preparing the test samples and ambient condition
、s during the test The test and reference samples shall be kept for at least 24 h at an ambient temperature of (23 2) C and (50 5) % relative air humidity before testing according to DIN EN ISO 291. Unless the test method specifies different conditions, these specifications shall also be observed. Gu
