20、centage change is determined in the length of touch and close fastener tapes after washing and drying or dry cleaning. 4 Apparatus 4.1 Rule marked in millimetres and longer than the greatest dimension being measured. 4.2 Equipment for marking precise reference points (e.g. indelible ink, threads, st
21、aples). 5 Test specimens Take three male and three female tapes each of a minimum length 500 mm. Page 4 EN 12243 : 1999 6 Conditioning Condition the test specimens for a minimum of 24h in accordance with the standard temperate atmosphere for testing as specified in EN 201 39. 7 Procedure 7.1 Marking
22、 Place each test specimen flat on the measuring surface and make a pair of marks on it at least 250mm apart in the length direction. Do not mark within 25mm of each end. 7.2 Measuring original length After the test specimens have been conditioned in accordance with clause 6, determine the original l
23、ength as follows. Place the test specimens with the pile facing down on a flat surface and remove any wrinkles without stretching the test specimen. Place the rule on the test specimen and record the distance between the pair of marks to an accuracy of at least Imm. 7.3 Washing and drying Close the
24、tapes in accordance with EN 12241: 1999, wash and dry them for the specified number of times in accordance with the procedure specified in EN 26330. 7.4 Dry cleaning Close the tapes in accordance with EN 12241 and dry clean the closed specimens for the specified number of times in accordance with th
25、e procedure specified in EN IS0 3175. 7.5 Measuring final length Open the test specimens, re-condition and measure the final length as follows: Place the test specimens with the pile facing down on a flat surface and remove any wrinkles without stretching the test specimen. Place the rule on the tes
26、t specimen and record the distance between the pair of marks to an accuracy of at least Imm. Page 5 EN 12243: 1999 8 Calculation and expression of results Calculate, for each test specimen, the change in dimension for the length direction (in percent) as follows: Calculate the mean dimensional chang
27、e for the length direction and express it to the nearest 0,5%. Indicate if the dimension has decreased (shrinkage) by means of a minus sign (-) or increased (extension) by means of a plus sign (+). 9 Test report Report the following information: a) number and date of this European Standard; b) date of the test; c) identification of the touch and close fastener tape; d) the result obtained and expressed as in clause 8; e) whether the fastener stayed closed or opened during the washing procedure; f) any deviation from this standard and any incident likely to have affected the results.
