、WG 2 “Fire-fighting pumps” (Secretariat: DIN, Germany). This document includes Amendment A2:2008. The responsible German body involved in its preparation was the Normenausschuss Feuerwehrwesen (Firefighting and Fire Protection Standards Committee), Technical Committee NA 031-04-05 AA Feuerlschpumpen
、. For further information about the Normenausschuss Feuerwehrwesen (FNFW), please refer to Uwww.fnfw.din.de. Amendment A2:2008 to EN 14710-1:2005 became necessary for the following reasons: Until now, fire-fighting centrifugal pumps conforming to DIN 14710 have been limited to a nominal delivery rat
、e of not more than 6 000 l/min. However, in view of the rising demand on the part of customers for pumps with higher delivery rates (i.e. for pumps that have a better performance capability while satisying all the requirements and tests specified in DIN 14710), CEN/TC 192 has decided to increase the
、 nominal delivery rate of fire-fighting centrifugal pumps conforming to DIN EN 14710 to a maximum of 10 000 l/min. Amendment, A1:2008, which was first included in the consolidated September 2008 edition of this standard, was necessitated by the revision of the Machinery Directive 98/37/EC and its re
、placement through 2006/42/EC, effective from 29 December 2009, which made modifications to the European Standards cited under that Directive in the Official Journal of the European Communities necessary. If these modifications had not been made, then an Annex Z would have been added to the relevant
、standard stating that the standard does NOT comply with the relevant essential requirements of Directive 2006/42/EC. The standard would have then been deleted from the Official Journal and would have no longer been deemed a harmonized standard. To maintain its status as a harmonized standard, EN 147
、10-1:2005 has been carefully reviewed and compared with the revised Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC; it has been determined that the standard complies with the requirements of 2006/42/EC. Therefore, CEN/TC 192 decided in June 2007 to use the “simple amendment” (type 1) procedure which does not involv
、e any technical modifications, but only a few minor editorial changes (e.g. updating the Foreword) and the addition of a new Annex ZB. Amendment A1:2008, in conjunction with the previous edition EN 14710-1:2005 thus contains specifications meeting the essential requirements set out in Annex I of the
、 “Machinery Directive”, Directive 98/37/EC (valid until 28 December 2009), and the “revised Machinery Directive”, Directive 2006/42/EC, which takes effect on 29 December 2009, and which apply to machines that are either first placed on the market or commissioned within the EEA. This standard serves
、to facilitate proof of compliance with the essential requirements of the directives. Once this standard is cited in the Official Journal of the European Union, it is deemed a “harmonized” standard and thus, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Mach
、inery Directive (“presumption of conformity”) DIN EN 14710-1:2009-02 3 A revision of Part 2 of EN 14710 (EN 14710-2:2005) was also necessary for the same reasons. This European Standard is to be applied in conjunction with Part 2 of EN 14710 Verification of general and safety requirements. Attention

According to 6.2.2 of this standard, where a higher degree of corrosion resistance is required (e.g. for delivery of sea water or contaminat
