2、cification KK-G-486 for all Federal agencies. 1. SCOPE. This commercial item description covers one type of welders gloves. The gloves are intended for use as work gloves by welders. 2. 5、CS 3.1 Descrktion. The gloves shall be leather, of the gunn cut pattern, with a one-piece continu- ous back. They shall be inseam sewn. All seams except the hem and two rolls of outseam stitching joining the front of the gauntlet to the palm shall include leather reinforcing welts. The seam at the b
6、ase of the second and third fingers shall be outseam sewn with two rows of stitching and shall be covered with a leather welt. Each pair of gloves shall be matched, paired, and tacked together so that they can be easily pulled apart Without damage. 3.2 Material 3.2.1 Leather. The leather shall be fl
7、esh split cattlehide bends and shall be suitable for use in gloves. Both sides of the leather shall be smooth and free of loose flesh. Middle splits, head splits, and shoulder splits shall not be used. The leather shall be chrome tanned, 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 ounce weight, and light gray in color. The comp
8、onents in each pair of gloves shall be of the same color. 3.2.2 Lining material. The inside of the leather gauntlet front and back shall be lined with unbleached cotton duck. The cloth shall weigh not less than 8.25 ounces per square yard and shall have a minimum tear strength of not less than 4 pou
9、nds in the warp and 3 pounds in the fill- ing. There shall be a lining of knitted wool-cotton plaited cloth on the inside back extending from the bottom of the gauntlet facing to the tips of the fingers. The cotton back of the knitted cloth shall be next to the leather. The knitted cloth shall be a
10、wool/cotton fabric of not less than Sos grade fleece or pulled new wool. The cotton backing yarn shall be not more than 30 percent of the weight of the cloth. The scoured and finished cloth shall range in weight from 9 to 11 ounces per square yard. 3.3 Thread. sewing. The thread for sewing shall be
11、unbleached cotton. 3.4. Sizes and measurements. The finished gloves shall conform to the following measurement: Each glove measure shall be 12-1/4 inches in length and 3-1/2 inches in hand width for the smallest size, running upwards in a 1/2-inch grade. 3.5 Labels. A commercial-type label is accept
12、able, provided that an additional printed cloth label containing the contractors name, contract number, size and National Stock Number (NSN) is caught on the stitching of the ammercial label. The commercial label shall include fiber and laundering information. 3.6 LabeVtaq. Each item shall be indivi
13、dually bar-coded with a paper tag for personal clothing items. The paper tag shall be standard bleached sulfate having a-basis weight of 100 pounds. The paper used for the tags shall have a smooth finish to accept thermal transfer and direct printing. The tags shall have a hole and shall be attached
14、 to each item by a fastener, clearly legible and readable by a scanner. 15、ype shall be a medium to high code density and shall be located so that it is com- pletely visible on the item when it is folded and/or packaged as specified and so that it causes no damage to the item. 4. REGULATORY REOUIREMENTS. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to th
16、e maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 5. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 5.1 Certification. The contractor shall certi and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this commerc
17、ial item description and conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The Goveinment reseives the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the first delivery and thereafter as may be otheiwise provided for under the provisions of the
18、contract. 5.2 Visual examination. Each glove shall be examined for the defects listed below. Defects: In design, constiuction, or workmanship; any component full, tight or twisted; open seam; any hole, cut or tear; any spot or stain clearly noticeable; any unhealed scratch, grub, tick mark, open vei
19、n, or clearly noticeable fat wrinkle in leather components; label missing, incorrect, or illegible; measurement of item not as specified; bar code omitted or not readable by scanner; human readable interpretation (HRI) omitted or illegible; bar code not visible on folded, packaged item; bar code cau
20、ses damage to the item; any items not packaged in accordance with the contract or purchase order. 5.3 Dimensional examination. The finished gloves shall be measured for the minimum length (measured from the top of the second finger to the edge of the gauntlet) and the width (measured from the base o
21、f the thumb across the palm to the edges below the first and fourth fingers) as specified in paragraph 3.4. Also, any variation on the same pair of more than 1/4 incis. for either dimension shall be scored as a defect. 5.4 Market acceptance criteria. The item offered, or a generic equivalent, must h
22、ave been sold to the commercial market or to the Goveinment for at least two years. 5.5 Wai-ranty. The item offered shall include the standard warranty given to the commercial market beginning with the date of delivery of the individual items. 5.6 Acceptance criteria. Acceptance criteria shall be as
23、 specified in the contract or purchase order. 6. PACKAGING 6.1 Preseivation, Dackinc. and marking.
