3、es. 1. SCOPE. This commercial item description covers the requirement for wired stoppers to be used to provide security for personnel and equipment in operations invoking steep ascents by placing the wired stoppers into cracks in rocks. 2. CLASSIFICATION. The wired stoppers shall be furnished in the

7、4 24251bs. 3.39 oz. 3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS. 3.1 Design and construction The wedged shaped stopper portion of the wired stopper shall be 6061 - T6 or 7075 aluminurn for sizes I, II, and III. The wedged shaped stopper portion of the wired stopper sizes IV through VI11 shall be 6061 - T6 aluminum.
8、The wired portion and wire loop cable shall be either galvanized steel or stainless steel. The wire loop cable shall protrude 7.5 2 0.500 inches below the bottom of the stopper head. The wired stopper shall be constructed and comply with the requirements in table I (see figure I). 3.1.1 ms. The wire
9、d stoppers shall be pull tested by sliding the stopper to the center of the wire there by exposing the looped ends of the wire. The two looped ends shall be placed over two steel dowels approximately 318 inches in diameter and pull tested to 60 percent of the wires minimum breaking strength (see tab
10、le I). Any breaks in the wire strands, slippage of wires through the swage, or permanent deformation shall constitute failure of the test, and rejection of the unit on which the failure occurred. One unit out of every 100 shall be pulled for this requirement. This test is to be performed at room tem
11、perature. Any industrial testing machine may be used to determine compliance with this requirement. 4. REGULATORY REOUIREMENTS. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation
12、 (FAR). 5. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS. 5.1 Product conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item description, conform to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and to be the same product 2 Provided

The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 5.2 Visual examination Each item shall be examined for the defects listed below. Defects. Finis
14、h not smooth and adherent; not free of burrs, rough spots, sharp edges, slivers, flat areas or projections; any component missing or not specified type; any component fractured, split, dented, bowed, malformed, damaged or loose; signs of strand breakage unusual wear or kinks; bends are not smooth an
15、d continuous; markings in wrong locations, incomplete, illegible, or not as specified. 5.3 Dimensional examination The wired wedged stoppers shall be examined without damaging or disassembling the item. Any dimension not within the specified tolerances shall be classified as a defect. 5.4 Acceptance
16、 criteria. Acceptance criteria shall be as specified in the contract or purchase order. 6. PACKAGING. 6.1 Preservation, packing, and marking.
