SCOPE. This commercial item description covers the requ
2、irements for the mans wool sweater intended for use by male Navy personnel as part of the utility uniform. 2. CLASSIFICATION. The sweater shall be one type and color in the following sizes: Extra-Small (32-34) Large (44-46) Medium (40-42) Small (36-38) Extra-Large (48-50) 3. SALENT CHARACTERISTICS 3
3、.1 Description. The sweater shall be a pullover style; with or without side seams; a one-piece mock-turtle neck (crew) collarette; rib knit skirt; and set-in long sleeves with rib knit cuffs. The collarette may be tubular or with one seam at the left shoulder. The shoulder seams shall be reinforced
4、with a black, 3/16 inch cotton tape. The skirt and cuffs shall be an integral part of the body sleeves (not seamed or looped). The color of the sweater shall be Navy Blue shade 3346. The skirt and cuff shall finish not less than 3-1/4 inch nor more than 3-3/4 inches in height (course direction). The
5、 collarette shall not finish not less than 2 inches nor more than 2-1/2 inches in height (course direction) (see Figure 1). The sweater shall be made of 2-ply worsted made of fleece or pulled sheeps wool or a combination of both not lower
10、in grade than 54s US Standard. The use of reprocessed, reused, or waste wool is prohibited. The wool shall be mothproofed. The color shall match the standard sample under artificial daylight having a color temperature of 7500 K and shall be a good approximation to the standard sample under incandesc
11、ent lamplight at 2800 K. The finished fabric shall contain not less than 95 percent wool based on the dry weight of the desized specimen. The sweater shall conform to the requirements listed in Table I. TABLE I. Sweater physical requirements 3.2.2 Thread. The thread for seaming and stitching the swe

A commercial-type label is acceptable, provided that an additional printed cloth label containing the contractors name, contract number, size and National Stock Number (NSN) is caught on the stitching of the commerc
14、ial label. The commercial label shall include fiber and laundering information. The laundering instructions shall be as follows: HAND LAUNDER IN LUKEWARM WATER USING A MILD SOAP. DO NOT WRING OR TWIST. RINSE IN CLEAR COLD WATER, RESHAPE, AND DRY FLAT. 3.3.1 Labelhag. Each item shall be individually
15、bar-coded with a paper tag for personal clothing items. The paper tag shall be standard bleached sulfate having a basis weight of 100 pounds. The paper used for the tags shall have a smooth finish to accept thermal transfer and direct printing. The tags shall be clearly legible and readable by a sca
16、nner. The bar coding element shall be a 13 digit national stock number (NSN). The bar code type shall be a medium to high code density and shall be located so that it is completely visible on the item when it is folded and/or packaged as specified and so that it causes no damage to the item. 3.4 Wei

The products offered shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item description, conform to
23、 the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and be a similar product that is offered for sale to the commercial market. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 4.2 Market acceptance criteria. The item offered, or a generic
24、equivalent, must have been sold to the commercial market or to the Government for at least two years. 4.3 Visual examination. Each sweater shall be examined for the defects listed below. 4.3.1 Defects. Any hole, cut, mend, or tear; broken or missing yarn or stitch; any uneven diameter yarn; color no
25、t as specified; shaded part or shade variation; any spot or stain (outside); thread ends not trimmed; any component part not as specified or omitted; seam puckered, distorted, pleated, irregular, or open; loose or tight tension; any material defects, distorted parts or poor workmanship; any componen
26、t part omitted; missing, broken, or misplaced button; buttonhole missing; improper size; misaligned; not cleanly or formed; label missing, incorrect, or illegible; measurement of item not as specified; bar code omitted or not readable by scanner; human-readable interpretation (HRI) omitted or illegi
27、ble; bar code not visible on folded, packaged item; bar code causes damage to the item; any items not packaged in accordance with the contract or purchase order. 4.4 Acceptance criteria.
