COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION POLE, RANGE, METAL, WITH CASE The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Military specification MIL-P-20192D. This description covers one ty
2、pe of range pole containing two sections of steel tubing. The assembled length of the range pole is 6.50 feet, Its intended use is to present a view for an instrument operator sighting a straight, relatively narrow line extending vertically above the point which marks a survey station. Salient chara
3、cteristics: Design: Range Dole fabrication. The range pole shall be as specified herein. The range pole shall consist of two sections of steel tubing, a 3,50 to 6.0-inch hardened steel point and a carrying case. be made of two sections of steel tubing of nominal 1.125-inch outside diameter and of no
4、minal 0.032-inch wall thickness. shall be 6.50 feet, including a hardened steel point permanently fastened to the lower end. The steel point shall be concentric to the centerline of the pole within 0.050-inch. The construction of the telescopic sleeve joining the upper and lower sections shall be su
5、ch that both sections of the pole are the same length. A spring catch, bayonet joint or 5/8 x 11 screw joint shall be provided to lock the two sections rigidly together. 10、texture, width .75-inch, shall be used as binding around all edges, including the pocket opening the case. The cotton duck webbing shall be dyed light green and treated for mildew resistance. Identification marking. The pole and case shall be identified with the manufacturers identification. Treatme
11、nt and painting. The pole shall be treated and painted. The finish coat shall be as follows: The upper 12 inches of the pole shall be painted red or orange and the remainder shall be painted in alternating white and red or orange horizontal bands 12 inches long, except that the point at the lower en
12、d shall be painted black. The edges of the ring shall be normal to the axis of the pole. Materials: Material shall be as specified herein. Metal. The metal shall be corrosion resistant or coated to be made corrosion resistant. WorkmanshiD: All parts, components, and assemblies of the range pole shal
13、l be clean and free from sand, dirt, fins, pits, sprues, scale, flux, and other harmful extraneous material. Certification of commercial item. The contractor shall certify that the product offered to the Government meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms t
14、o the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices and is the same product as the manufacturers current product offered by the contractor in the commercial marketplace for at least one year preceding the solicitation. The Government reserves the right to require
15、 proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract. Metric Products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, provided they fall
16、 within the tolerances specified using conversion tables contained in the latest revision of FED-STD-376, and all other requirements of this Commercial Item Description are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch/pound u
17、nits, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable. The contracting officer has the option of accepting or rejecting the product. Quality assurance: The range pole shall be examined for the following defects. Presence of one or more defects shall be c
