Salient Characteristics. The leather name patch is designed for wear on all Battle D
2、ress Uniforms (BDUs) and the Field Jacket above the left breast pocket. It shall be attached to the uniform with hook and loop fastener tape. The hook fastener tape shall be attached to the back side of the patch. The loop side shall be included with the patch for later stitching to the garment. The
3、 patch shall be leather and measure 2 inches wide by 4 inches long. The color of the patch shall be black. The thread for stitching the hook tape to the patch shall be polyester/cotton or nylon. The color of the thread shall be black. The hook and loop fastener tape shall conform to Type I, Class 1
4、of MIL-F-21840. The tape shall be black. Each tape shall measure 2 inches wide X 4 inches long. Fabrication. The back of the,hook fastener tape shall be attached to the back of the leather name patch by stitching on all four sides 1/16 inch from the edge, with 10-12 stitches per inch. The loop faste
5、ner tape shall be affixed to the hook tape after stitching. The silver embossed block letters shall be 3/16 inch. Embossing on the leather patch shall be within the stitching on the patch. There shall be two lin
8、es. The first line shall be centered with the first name, middle initial, and last name. The individuals grade and USAF shall be centered on the second line. For the first sergeants, there shall be a third line added for the duty line. One speciality identification or functional badge may be worn. I
9、f the badge has a horizontal format it shall be centered at the top of the patch; if the format is vertical, it shall be centered on the right side of the patch. Workmanship. The finished name patch shall be thoroughly cleaned, and all loose thread, lint, and foreign matter removed. The items shall
10、be uniform in quality and shall be free from irregularities or defects which adversely affect appearance, performance, reliability, or durability. Product Demonstration Model. When required, offers shall submit a name patch of their intended production. The Product Demonstration Model shall consist
11、of units independently developed. Product Demonstration Model shall be analyzed and evaluated by the government. Evaluation criteria and basis for award are contained in the solicitation. Product Demonstration Models shall be retained by the government. Quality Assurance Certification. The contracto
12、r shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the f
13、irst delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for, under the provisions of the contract. Examination. Lots of one name patch shall be inspected in accordance with “Sampling Procedures and Tables for Inspection by Attributes“, ANSI/ASQC 21.4, published by the American Society for Quality
14、Control. Visual Examination. The inspection level for visual examination shall be II and the AQL 2.5 major and 6.5 total defects per hundred units. The sample unit is one name patch. Dimensional Examination. The finished name patch shall conform to the dimensions specified. Any dimension that is not
15、 within the established tolerance shall be classified as a defect. The lot size shall be the number of shipping containers in the inspection lot. The inspection level shall be S-1 and AQL shall be 2.5
17、defects per hundred units. Defects. The patch shall be examined for the following defects: material defects (any cut, hole/tear, run, blemish, needle chew); component parts twisted or misplaced; shade parts; metallic parts twisted, omitted, misplaced, loose or distorted; any spot or stain; any open
18、seam; any broken stitches; any irregular edge or topstitching. The patch shall ;lot contain any hole, tear, cut, chew spot, stain, or weakening defect. Packaqinq, Packinq, Markinq and Palletization. Packaging, packing marking and palletization shall be in accordance with ASTM-D 3951, Standard Practi
19、ce for Commercial Packaging, as specified for shipments to the Department of Defense, including Section 7. Unitized loads, placing boxes on pallets, shall be used whenever total quantity for shipment to one destination exceeds 250 pounds (excluding the pallet) or 20 cubic feet. Pallets shall have a
20、length of 40 inches and a width of 48 inches. Pallet loads, including the pallet, shall not exceed 54 inches in height, 43 inches in length and 52 inches in width.
