2、rence to MIL-B-87018. Abstract. This document covers the requirements for a leather bag used for the transportation of money. Salient Characteristics. The money bag shall be made of leather with a partition, a reinforced bottom, two straps with handles, bottom metal studs and shall be equipped with

3、a padlock and keys. The construction of the money bag shall conform to figures 1 through 4 and shall be as specified herein. The bottom reinforcement panel shall consist of a piece of leather cemented to a reinforcing board. The finished leather side shall face toward the inside of the bag. The stra

4、ps may be constructed from one or two pieces of leather, joined at the bottom of the bag under one or both strap loops. Each handle shall consist of that portion of the strap which is folded in half lengthwise and stitched together. 0 Beneficial comments (recommendations, additions, deletions) and a

7、side dyed black. The leather shall be full grain or corrected grain, vegetable tanned cattlehide. Corrected grain leather shall be full grain leather that has been lightly snuffed on the grain side to remove superficial blemishes. The flesh side may be buffed, shaved or split to secure greater unifo

8、rmity of thickness. The grain side shall be smooth or embossed in fine grain. The leather shall be mildew resistant treated so that the paranitrophenol fungicide content is not less than 0.18 percent nor more than 0.70 percent. Thickness of the leather used for the front, bottom, back-top-flap piece

9、, end panels, straps and end flaps shall be 7-1/2 (21/2) ounces. Thickness of the leather used for the corner reinforcements, loops and handle tab shall be 5 (j1/2) ounces. Leather, Reinforcinq. The leather used for the partition and end and bottom reinforcement panels shall be firm, vegetable tanne

10、d, split cattlehide. The color shall be natural. The leather shall be mildew-resistant treated and shall meet the paranitrophenol requirements for leather stated in the Leather paragraph above. Thickness of the leather shall be 5 (21/2) ounces. Thread. Thread used for stitching operations shall be o

11、ne of those specified below and shall be black in color. Thread may be linen, 4 ply conforming to A-A-50197. Thread may be nylon, twisted multiple cord, soft finish, 3 ply, 205 nominal Tex No. (g/km) with a breaking force of 27.0 pounds minimum. Thread may be nylon, twisted multiple cord, bonded fin

12、ish, 3 ply, 268 nominal Tex No. (g/km) with a breaking force of 27.0 pounds minimum. Thread may be polyester, twisted soft multiple cord, normal elongation, general purpose, 3 ply, 210 nominal Tex size with a breaking strength of 24 pounds minimum. Thread may be polyester, twisted bonded multiple co

13、rd, normal elongation, general purpose, 3 ply, 210 nominal Tex size with a breaking strength of 25 pounds minimum. Thread may be cotton, 4 ply, ticket No. 8 of A-A-52094. Adhesive. The adhesive used for bonding any part of the bag shall be any suitable adhesive. Rivets and Caps. Brass tubular rivets

14、 shall have an oval-head. Rivet caps for use with tubular rivets shall be brass. As an alternate, the rivets and caps may be brass-plated steel and lacquered. Studs. The studs used on the bottom of the bag shall be a commercial split type, with a hemispherical shaped head approximately 7/8 inch in d

15、iameter. The studs shall be brass- plated steel and lacquered. B

16、right brass snap fasteners shall be regular wire spring clamp type. Hasp, Staple and Lock. Each bag shall be equipped with a three, four or 6 hole, solid brass hasp and brass staple securely attached by small rivets and washers. The staple shall have an opening of approximately 5/16 inch diameter. T

17、he lock shall be a steel or brass, 1 inch pin tumbler padlock furnished with two keys. The hasp, staple and lock shall be sufficiently durable and secure for the intended purpose. Reinforcinq Board. The material used for reinforcing the bottom of the bag shall be a suitable pressboard, a minimum of

18、0.090 inches thick and of sufficient strength and stiffness to support the bottom of the bag. As an alternate, plywood of a suitable thickness may be used. Label/markinq, Identification marking shall be in a contrasting color on the inside of the top flap. All lettering shall be at least 3/16 inch h

19、igh. Markings shall contain the following information: BAG, MONEY Stock No. Name of Contractor Contract No. us Patterns. Patterns shall be furnished by the contractor. Sizes and Measurements. Finished dimensions of the bag and components shall be as specified in figures 1 through 4. When no toleranc

20、es are given, dimensions are approximate. The dimensions of the bottom reinforcement panel shall finish approximately 5- 1/2 by 14-1/2 inches. The handle shall finish approximately 13 inches from rivet to rivet. Workmanship. After completion, the finished money bag shall be thoroughly cleaned, and a

21、ll loose thread, lint, and foreign matter removed. Product Demonstration Model. When required, offerers shall submit samples of their intended production. The Product Demonstration Model will consist of units independently developed. Product Demonstration Models will be analyzed and evaluated by the

22、 government. Evaluation criteria and basis for award are contained in the solicitation. Product Demonstration Models will be retained by the government. One (1) Product Demonstration Model approved by DPSC under the resultant contract will serve as a manufacturing standard for the corresponding prod

23、uction items delivered under this contract. 24、ibility to perform in accordance with the Commercial Item Description specified above. Quality Assurance Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producers own drawings, specificati

25、ons, standards and quality assurance practices. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for, under the provisions of the contract. Reliance on contractor QA systems shall not relieve the contractor

26、 of the responsibility of ensuring that all products or supplies submitted to the government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Examination. Money bag lots shall be inspected in accordance with “Sampling Procedures and Tables for Inspection by Attributes“, ANSI/ASQC 21.4, p

27、ublished by the American Society for Quality Control. Visual Examination. The bags shall be examined for the defects listed below. The lot size shall be expressed in units of bags. The sample unit is one bag. The inspection level shall be II and the acceptable quality level (AQL), expressed in terni

28、s of defects per hundred units, shall be 2.5. Defects. The money bags shall be examined for the following defects: color not as specified, not uniform; grain not as specified; hole, cut or torn area on exterior of bag; grub marks, open or badly healed scratches, brands, boney, loose or pipey leather

29、; heavy fat wrinkles, stretchy leather; grain side not finished as specified; finish not as specified; thread shade does not match color of leather; thread not specified type; lock not approved type; finish not as specified on metal components; studs, rivets, caps and washers not as specified; desig

30、n not as specified; any component not made from material specified; any component missing or operation not performed as specified; any leather component not attached with grain side out (when applicable); caps and rivets or studs not securely clinched and may become detached in use; lock does not fu

31、nction properly; caps and rivets or studs loose but securely attached; keys missing or do not operate lock; rivets reversed; sharp burrs or sliver on metal components; loose stitch tension causing loose seam; lock stitches exposed on surface of leather; tight stitch tension rupturing leather; open s

The finished bags shall conform to the dimensions specified. Any dimension that is not within the established tolerance shall be classified as a defect. The sam

34、ple unit shall be one bag; the inspection level shall be S-2 and the AQL, expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 1.0. Packaqinq Examination. The fu.lly packaged shipping containers shall be examined in accordance with defects listed below. The lot size shall be the number of shipp

35、ing containers in the inspection lot. The inspection level shall be S-2 and AQL, expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 2.5.
