Abstract. This document covers the require
2、ments for fiber-filled airline-type head rest pillows. use in aircraft as a comfort accessory. These pillows are intended for SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS e General Description. rectangular in shape without risers or boxes and shall conform to the finished dimensions and weight listed in Table I. 7、/8 inch from the edge. All ends of stitching shall be securely backstitched a minimum of 1/2 inch when not caught in another seam or row of stitching. The pillow shall be machine washable. Sheetinq. The sheeting for the pillow case shall be bleached, preshrunk cotton muslin conforming to Type III of
8、 A-A-50155. Fiber Fillinq. The filling shall be new, washable, synthetic fibers consisting of 6 denier, hollow core polyester fiber, treated with silicone to repel water. Colored, stained and oily fibers will not be acceptable. Thread. The thread used for sewing shall be polyester covered polyester
9、core, Ticket No. 40, conforming to Type II of A-A-50199. Label/markinq. The label shall be in accordance with commercial practice and shall conform to the legal requirements of the state in which the pillows are manufactured. The label shall contain fiber content, cleaning instructions, contractors
10、name; and shall be integrally sewn into the end seam of the pillow, equidistant from the sides of the pillow. The printing or marking on the label shall show Grade 4 colorfastness to laundering when tested as specified in AATCC Test Method 61, Test 3A (3 complete cycles, specimens must be dried afte
11、r each cycle; use 10 steel balls and multifiber test fabric). Size and Weiqht. The ?illow shall have the finished dimensions and weight listed in Table I. The thickness shall be taken as the average of the measurements of free height under each of the four corners of the square piece of plastic. The measurements
15、shall be made to the nearest 1/16 inch and taken within one minute after placement of the plastic square on the pillow. Workmanship. The finished pillow shall conform to the quality of product established by this document. The occurrence of defects shall not exceed the applicable acceptable quality
16、levels. Requlatory Requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent practicable. Product Demonstration Model. When required, offerers shall submit samples of their intended production. The Product Demonstration M
17、odel shall consist of units independently developed. Product Demonstration Models shall be analyzed and evaluated by the government. Evaluation criteria and basis for award are contained in the solicitation. Product Demonstration Models shall be retained by the government. One (i) Product Demonstrat
18、ion Model approved by DPSC under the resultant contract shall serve as a manufacturing standard for the corresponding production items delivered under this contract. Offerers are advised that the Product Demonstration Model does not relieve the successful offerer of his responsibility to perform in
19、accordance with the Commercial Item Description specified above. QUALITY ASSURANCE Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards and qua
20、lity assurance practices. 22、lots shall be inspected in accordance with “Sampling Procedures and Tables for Inspection by Attributes“, ANSI/ASQC 21.4, published by the American Society for Quality Control. Visual Examination. The pillows shall be examined for the defects listed below. The lot size shall be expressed in units of
23、 pillows. The sample unit is one pillow. The inspection level shall be I and the acceptable quality level (AQL), expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 1.5. Defects.
