2、SCOPE. This commercial item description (CID) covers liquid refrigerant sight flow indicators intended for use in systems using refrigerant type 12 or 22. 2. CLASSIFICATION. The indicators shall be of the following types and sizes. The type and size to be furnished shall be as specified (see 7.2(b).

SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 3.1 General requirements The indicator shall allow an unrestricted flow of refrigerant type 12 and 22 and shall
7、be certified in accordance with Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. (UL) 207, “Refrigerant-Containing Components and Accessories,Nonelectrical“ . The indicator shall contain not less than 0.24 square inches of unrestricted viewing area. 3.2 Moisture indicating element When required (see 7.2(c), a moistu
8、re indicating element shall be provided for determination of a wet or dry refrigerant. A color comparison code or chart for refrigerant type 12 and type 22 shall accompany the indicator. 4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS 4.1 Recovered materials The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered material
9、s to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 4.2 Environmental protection The sight glass shall meet all applicable Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) restrictions in effect on the date of the contract. These regulations app
10、ly to the emission of materials hazardous to the environment or the users health and shall be adhered to during the manufachiring, service, transportation, storage, and operatioduse of the sight glass. 5. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 5.1 Product conformance. The sight glasses shall meet the salient
11、characteristics of this CID; conform to the manufacturers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices; and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 2 Licensed by Information Han
12、dling ServicesA-A-59462 5.1.1 Verification of conformance Verification of conformance to UL 207 shall be either the manufacturers standard certification of such conformance or by an accredited testing laboratory satisfactory to the Government. 5.1.2 Moisture element test. Each refrigerant shall have
13、 a maximum of 10 parts per million$m) moisture content when passed through and the indicating element shall indicate dry in accordance with the manufacturer3 established code or chart. The moisture content shall be gradually increased to a maximum of 40ppm. The element shall show a definite change t
14、o a wet condition. An intermediate change in the element shall be observed if manufacturer3 design requires. The manufacturer3 standard method for determining the moisture content of the refrigerant shall be acceptable. 6. PACKAGING 6.1 Preservation, packing, and marking For acquisition purposes, th
15、e indicators shall be preserved, packed, and marked as specified in the acquisition order (see 7.5(d). 7. NOTES 7.1 Sources of documents. 7.1.1 &R.
