3、n has authorized the use of this commercial item description for all federal agencies. 1. SCOPE. This commercial item description (CID) covers dial and beam indicating bakers scales used in bakeries to check the weight of dough pieces leaving the divider and before entering the proofer. The type II
4、scale is primarily intended for use in field bakeries. 2. CLASSIFICATION. The design shall be one of the manufacturers current production models, with standard accessories offered by the manufacturer, to meet all the requirements specified. The scales shall be one of the following types and classes,
5、 as specified (see 7.2(b). Type I - Over and under scale Class 1 - Avoirdupois, 3-pound capacity Class 2 - Metric, 1500-gram capacity Type II - Even-balance scale, 5-pound capacity 3. The scales and weights shall meet the applicable requirements of National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Handbook 44, “Specification, Tolerances, and Other Technical Requirements for Weighing and Measuring Devices“. 3.1.2 Certificatio
7、n. The scales shall be certified by National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) International or meet the requirements of NSF 169 “Special Purpose Food Equipment and Devices“. 3.1.3 Overload. When subjected to a load and counterweight of 125 percent of the required capacity, the scales shall sustain no per
8、manent deformation, bends, breakage, or separation of parts and shall return to the initial zero position when the load is removed. 3.2 Design and construction. 3.2.1 Type I. The type I scale shall be a bench scale with a dial indicator and a tare beam. The scale shall show an over or under weight i
9、ndication on the dial face by a balance indicator when objects are placed on the load receiver. The scale shall have a platform load receiver and a weight platter (for removable weights) that counterbalance the weight of objects being weighed on the platform load receiver. 3.2.1.1 Class 1. The class
10、 1 scale shall be designed to weigh in the avoirdupois weight system and shall have a minimum capacity of 3 pounds. The tare beam for the scale shall have a capacity of 1 pound with maximum graduations of 1/4 ounce. The dial indicator chart shall have an over and under indication of 1 ounce with max
11、imum graduations of 1/4 ounce. 3.2.1.2 Class 2. The class 2 scale shall be designed to weigh in the metric system and shall have a minimum capacity of 1500 grams. The tare beam shall have a capacity of 500 grams with maximum graduations of 5 grams. The dial indicator chart shall have an over and und
12、er indication of 25 or 30 grams with maximum graduations of 5 grams. 3.2.1.3 Dial indicator. The dial indicator shall be readable from both ends of the scale and shall be enclosed in a metal housing. There shall be a clear enclosure over the chart. The dial indicator chart shall be marked to indicat
13、e the zero position and the over and under indication. 3.2.1.4 Tare beam. The tare beam shall be notched and shall have a poise. The poise shall not be detachable from the tare beam without the use of tools. 3.2.1.5 Damping device. The scale shall have a hydraulic damping device. The damping device
14、shall be accessible for adjusting for temperature changes or for adjusting damping oscillation. 3.2.1.6 Load receiver and weight receiver. The load receiver and weight receiver shall be constructed of corrosion resisting material. 3.2.2 Type II. The type II scale shall be an even-balance bench with
15、two 9-inch flat plates constructed of corrosion resisting material, a tare beam, and balance weights. The tare beam shall have a capacity of 1 pound with maximum graduations of 1/4 ounce. 3.3 Weights and weight box. Weights shall be furnished with the scale as
17、specified in table I. Weights shall be constructed of corrosion resisting material or shall be coated to resist corrosion. All weights shall be marked with the weight value. Provisions shall be made to allow for weight adjustment, service, and replacement of components without disturbing or disassembly of major components.
19、 There shall be free access to inspect, service, and adjust balance of tare beam and dial indicator, when applicable, without requiring disassembly of any component on the unit. 3.5 Workmanship. The finished scale shall have no burrs, slivers, splinters or broken, loose or missing fasteners. 4. REGU
20、LATORY REQUIREMENTS 4.1 Recovered materials. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 4.2 Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be con
21、sidered on an equal basis with those manufactured using avoirdupois units, provided they fall within specified tolerances using conversion tables contained in the latest version of Federal Standard No. 376B, “Preferred Metric Units For General Use By the Federal Government“, and all other requiremen
22、ts of this commercial item description are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch-pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable. The contracting officer has t

PRODUCT CONFORMANCE PROVISIONS 5.1 Product conformance. The scales provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial ite
24、m description; conform to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices; and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 5.2 Warranty. The manufacturers standard commer
25、cial warranty shall apply. 6. PACKAGING 6.1 Preservation, packing, and marking. . Preservation, packing, and marking shall be as specified in the acquisition order (see 7.2(c). 7.
