2、ederal agencies. 1. SCOPE. This document covers the requirements for one type of laundry bag intended for use by navai personnel serving aboard submarines for storing soiled clothing. 2. CLASSIFICATION. The bag shail be of one type and size. 3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 3.1 Description 3.1.2 Due to li
3、mited space for storage aboard submarines, the laundry bag shail codom to the dimensions and hanger strap placement that follows: The laundry bag shall be cylindrically shaped with an opening at the top extending across the entire lena&. The bag shall have four hanger-straps equally spaced along the
4、 top with snap fastener closures. The bag closure shall be accomplished by the two center straps passing over the bag opening and secured in position by the two center hanger-closure strap snap fasteners. Finished Length 25 (+/-Vi) inches fi-om the seam of the body jodend circle to the opposite side body joaend circle. b. Finish diameter end circle: 8 (+/- !A) inches. c. Finished position of the closure st
8、raps and the hanger-closure straps: 8 % (+/-1/8) inches fi-om the bag edge nearest each strap to the center of each strap. d. Finished position of the hanger straps: 1 % (+/- 1/8) inches, from the bag edge nearest each strap to the center of each strap. e. Distance between the male female snap compo
9、nents on the hanger and hanger-closure straps: 5 % (+/- l/S) inches apart &om center to center of each component. - + 1/8 inches apart when measured from center to center of each component. 3.1.3 Description of center closure straps. The two center closure straps shall measure 3 3/8 (+/-1/16) inches
10、 finished length. Each center closure strap shall have a female snap. The straps shall be cut and heat sealed with the center of the female snap component 1 (+I- 1/16) inch fi-om one end of each strap. The end of the closure strap without a snap shall be placed 1 (+/- 1/16) inch under the upper fini
11、shed bag edge and stitched to the upper bag with a 1 (+/- 1/16) inch square. The one inch square shall be reinforced with a double bartack. (See Figure 2). 3.1.4 Description of the center hanger-closure straps. The two center hanger-closure straps shall measure 10 (+/- 1/16) inches finished length.
12、Eachhanger-closure strap shall have one female snap and two male snaps. The straps shall be cut and heat sealed with the center of the female snap component 1 (+/- 1/16) inch fi-om one end of each strap. With the button of the female snap component facing down the center of the fist male snap compon
13、ent with the stud facing up shall measure 5 %(+/- 1/16) inches fi-om the center of the female snap component. The center of the second male snap component with the stud facing up shall measure 1 % (+/- 1/16) inches fiom the center of the first male snap component. The end of the strap with the male
14、snap components (studs facing up) shall be 4 i/2 (+/- 1/16) inches fiom the finished edge of the lower bag and shall touch the upper bag finished edge when the bag is snapped shut. The strap shall be stitched to the lower bag with a 1 inch square. The one inch square shall be reinforced with a doubl
15、e bartack. (See Figure 2). 3.1.5 Description of outer hanger straps. The two outer hanger straps shall meaure 1 O (+/- 1 /16) inches finished length. Each outer hanger strap shall have one female and one male snap. The straps shall be cut and heat sealed with the center of the female snap component
16、1 (+/- 1/16) inch &om one end of each strap. The button of the female snap assembly shall face down at the center of each male snap component (stud facing up) and shall measure 5 % (+/- 1/16) inches fi-om the center of the female snap component. The finished position of the two outer hanger straps m
17、easured fi-om the finished bag edge nearest each strap to the center of each strap shall be 1 54 (+/- 1/16) inches. The end of the strap with the male snap component (stud facing up) shall be 4 % (+/- 1/16) inches fi-om the finished edge of the lower bag. The strap shall be stitched to the lower bag
18、 with a 1 inch square. The one inch square shall be reinforced with a double bartack.
