SCOPE. This commercial item description covers rigid ballistic shin guards to
2、be worn by dismounted military personnel for protection of the knee and shin. 2. CLASSIFICATION. The rigid ballistic shin guards shall be of one type in the following sizes (see 7.4): Medium Large X-Large 3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS. 3.1 General. The ballistic shin guards, hereafter referred to as sh
3、in guards, shall be the manufacturers commercial product except for any changes necessary to comply with the government requirements. 3.2 Ballistic Protection Level. The shin guards will meet National Institute of Justice (NIJ) Standard O 108.0 1, Ballistic resistant protective materials or current
4、edition (see 7. i), Level III-A and it is desired that they meet threat Level III. This protection will be for the knee and shin. 6、aterials to produce a durable, rigid (not soft) ballistic shin guard. 3.4 Area of Coverage. The shin guards will cover and protect the front of the knee and shin (see 7.3). 3.5 Padding. The shin guards will include interior padding to cushion the impact of objects hitting the rigid covedshell. 3.6 D
7、urability. The shin guards will be made of high quality materials, that are highly resistant to wear and decay and easy to clean and maintain. They will be capable of satisfactory performance after a minimum of five years of storage and transportation in climatic categories stated in paragraph 3.13.
8、 3.7 Flexibility. The shin guards must allow for normal flexibility at the knee and ankle joints. They must provide protection at flexibility points. 3.8 Fasteners. The shin guards will have adjustable fasteners and straps that are simple to operate and should not restrict blood flow. Fasteners must
9、 allow for quick removal by medical personnel. 3.9 Utility. The shin guards shall be ambidextrous. 3.1 O Shape. The shin guards shall be shaped to curve and conform to the natural curvature of the knee, leg and ankle. 3.1 1 Color. The shin guards shall be black color compatible with the black color
10、in the Battle Dress Uniform (BDU). 3.12 Wei color deviations not as specified; raw edges, open seams, thread ends, or loose tension resulting in loose seams; any serious material defects, distorted parts or evidence of poor workmanship; any component part omitted; label missing, incorrect, or illegi
11、ble; physical dimensions not as specified; any items not packaged in accordance with the contract or purchase order. 5.3 Acceptance Criteria. Acceptance criteria shall be as specified in the contract or purchase order. 6. PACKAGING. 6.1 Preservation, Packing, and Marking. The preservation, packing,
