This commercial item d
2、escriptioncovers a sterile and nonbacterio- static calcium alginate culture swab with a flexible aluminum wire handle. Salient characteristics. i. Shall be a sterile, nonbacteriostatic calcium alginate tipped swab for obtaining cultures (e.g. from the nasopharynx). Shall have a nominal overall lengt
3、h of 5-5/16 inches. Shall be in the form of a soft flexible aluminum wire shaft that is tipped on one end with calcium alginate wool. The other end of the wire shaft shall have a loop. Shall have wire shaft handle fabricated from 0.035 inch (nominal) diameter wire. Shall be tipped with sufficient ca
4、lcium alginate wool to provide a tip length of at least 1/4 inches and a tip diameter of not less than 1/16 inches. Shall be supplied in a sterile condition. 6、inate fibers shall be soluble in the following aqueous solutions (to facilitate a complete recovery of micro-organisms): A. 1 percent: sodium citrate. B. 1 percent glycerophosphate.
