、E No. 114 COUPLING AND UNCOUPLING FORCE TEST PROCEDURE FOR ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS, SOCKETS AND APPLICABLE ACCESSORIES (From EIA Standards Proposal No. 5207, formulated under the cognizance EIA CE-2.0 Committee on National Connector Standards.) 1 Introduction 1.1 Scope This test procedure establishes
、a test method to determine the coupling/uncoupling forces required to couple and uncouple circular electrical connectors, sockets and applicable accessories. 2. Test resources 2.1 Equipment 2.1.1 Mounting fixtures that allow the specimens to be mounted in their normal manner. 2.1.2 Torque gages of s
、uitable range for the test specimen size under test so that the readings will be in the middle 50% of the scale, where possible, with a normal torque scale accuracy of 2%. 2.3 Material Alcohol, isopropyl, AR (analytical reagent) grade and/or lubricants as may be specified in the referencing document
、. 3. Test specimen 3.1 Description Unless otherwise specified in the referencing document, the test specimen shall consist of a plug and receptacle connector with all applicable contacts inserted in place. Applicable hardware including skirts, hoods, cable clamps, etc. shall be installed. EIA-364-11
、4 Page 2 3.2 Preparation Unless otherwise specified in the referencing document, the test specimen shall not be lubricated with the exception indicated in 3.2.1. 3.2.1 Test specimens which use contact lubricants as a part of the finished product shall be tested in that state. 3.2.2 Unless otherwise
、specified in the referencing document, the test specimen shall not be cleaned and shall be tested in their as received state. 3.2.3 Unless otherwise specified in the referencing document, test specimens shall be tested with contacts terminated with their applicable conductors or mounted and/or termi
、nated to test boards. 3.2.4 If a lubricant is to be applied, said lubricant shall be specified and/or approved by the test sponsor prior to the application process. 4. Test procedure 4.1 The two mating connectors shall be brought to a position where mechanical mating begins and the torque gage is at
、 zero indication. 4.2 Coupling and decoupling rates if applicable shall be as specified in the referencing document. In the event that rates are not specified, the manufactures recommendation shall be used. Manual coupling may be allowed, unless otherwise specified in the referencing document. 4.3 T
、he peak torque required for coupling shall be recorded. 4.4 The referencing document or manufactures instructions and/or supplied information shall establish when full coupling has been achieved. Said information shall be included in the test report. 4.5 Unless otherwise specified in the referencing
、 document, decoupling torque shall be applied to fully unmate the test specimens shall be performed and the peak uncoupling force recorded. 5 Details to be specified The following details shall be specified in the referencing document: 5.1 Number of specimens to be tested 5.2 Measurements to be made
