12、EDURE FOR ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS (From EIA Standards Proposal No. 5336, formulated under the cognizance of the EIA CE-2.0 Committee on National Connector and Socket Standards. 1 Introduction 1.1 Scope This test standard establishes a test method to determine the relative rigidity a connector insert p
13、rovides a pin contact, by inserting a gauge pin into a contact cavity, and then measuring the total displacement of a reference point on the tip of the gauge pin when that gauge pin experiences a moment perpendicular to the mating axis. 2 Test resources 2.1 Equipment 2.1.1 Holding device for mountin
14、g the unmated connector 2.1.2 Gauge pins 2.1.3 Force gauge 2.1.4 Means to measure displacement of pin gauge 3 Test specimen 3.1 Description Unless otherwise specified in the referencing document, the test specimen shall consist of a plug or receptacle connector, and an applicable gauge pin or pins t
15、hat can be inserted into contact cavities under test. 3.2 Preparation Unless otherwise specified in the referencing document, the individual item requirements shall be as specified herein and in accordance with the referencing document. In the event of any conflict between the requirements of this s
16、pecification and the referencing document, the latter shall govern. EIA-364-116 Page 2 4 Test procedure 4.1 Pin contact stability 4.1.1 The unmated connectors shall have 10 percent of their contact cavities or 5 cavities (whichever is greater) subjected to this test. Connectors having 5 cavities or
17、less shall have 100 percent of the cavities tested. 4.1.2 The connector shall be held in a holding device. The forces shall be applied to the gauge pin as shown in figure 1. The load shall be applied gradually at a rate not exceeding 25.4 millimeters (1 inch) per minute. The total pin tip displaceme
18、nt shall be measured as shown on figure 1. Step 1 - Apply load to determine reference point. Step 2 - Apply load to opposite direction (180) and measure total displacement. Figure 1 - Pin contact stability test 4.2 Pass/fail criteria 4.2.1 The total displacement of a reference point on the contact t
19、ip end shall not exceed the amount specified in the referencing document.
