Existence of such Standards and Publications sha
3、ll not in any respect preclude any member or nonmember of ECIA from manufacturing or selling products not conforming to such Standards and Publications, nor shall the existence of such Standards and Publications preclude their voluntary use by those other than ECIA members, whether the standard is t

This EIA Standard is considered to have International Standardization implication, but the International Electrotechnical Commission activity has not progressed to the point where a valid comparison between the EIA Standard and the IEC document can be made

All additional applicable hardware shall be assembled to the specimen, including skirts, hoods, cable clamps, jack screws, guide pins or sockets. 3.2 Preparation 3.2.1 Unless otherwise specified, provisions shall be made t
9、o permit rigid mounting of the specimen by normal means so that the specimen can be tested in the direction of normal mating. 3.2.2 All connectors shall be wired and/or mounted as described in the detail specification. The wires shall be bundled and secured in such a way as not to influence or inhib

EIA-364-86A Page 2 4 Test procedure 4.1 Initial examination The specimen and mounted accessories shall be visually inspected and electrically checked, (if required), as described in the detail specification. 4.2 General information The test consists of
11、 two groups of parts: 1) The connectors shall be mated in the normal manner; 2) An attempt shall be made to mate the connectors when they are so arranged as to be unmateable, Any required instructions should be included in the referencing document. 4.3 Severity Unless otherwise specified in the refe
12、rencing document, the maximum force to be applied in the mating process shall be a function of the measured mating force of the connector, including all accessories required to accomplish polarization and or keying. The maximum force to be applied is indicated in table 1. Table 1 Maximum force appli

14、or lubricated. 4.5 Procedure One set of specimens shall be used for each part of the polarization procedure. EIA-364-86A Page 3 4.5.1 Normal positioning The connectors shall then be fully mated at a rate specified in the detail specification. If the connectors are not to be fully mated, the mating d
15、epth shall also be specified in the referencing document. The maximum force and travel shall be recorded. The connectors shall then be fully unmated. If the rate of unmating is important it shall be specified in the referencing document. 4.5.2 Reversed positioning One of the mated pair of connectors
16、 or components shall be reversed or rearranged as specified in the referencing document. The connectors shall be brought to a position where mechanical mating begins and the force or torque and travel gauges zeroed. Start mating the connectors; apply force until: a) It reaches the maximum level desc
17、ribed in the detail specification, or b) the keys cannot withstand the applied force and breakage or dislodgment of the keying features occurs. NOTE When either a) or b) is met, the test shall be stopped. If a) is met, the results shall indicate the maximum force was applied and the test stopped, (a
18、lso noting what the force was). If b) is met, the breaking force shall be noted. 4.6 Examination The connector components, plug, receptacle, contacts and accessories necessary to demonstrate polarization and or keying, shall be examined for physical damage (any cracks, deformation, dislodgment, or b
19、reakage). 5 Details to be specified The following details shall be specified in the referencing document: 5.1 Number of specimens to be tested 5.2 Mating force, may specify to use the maximum measured mating force of the connectors when normally mated 5.3 Maximum force applied, see table 1, unless o
20、therwise specified 5.4 Mating depth, if the connectors are not to be fully mated 5.5 Instructions as to which, if any, polarization or keying feature(s) are to be removed prior to the test EIA-364-86A Page 4 6 Test documentation Documentation shall contain the details specified in clause 6, with any
