、 3 determination of the behaviour of polymer bitumen sheets during application of mastic asphalt (prEN 14693) type 1 5 Base specimens 5.1 General Concrete base specimen slabs shall be of uniform quality for all tests. The slab thickness shall not be less than 40 mm. The area of the base specimens sh

、all be chosen in such a way that the required test specimens can be obtained from the specimens by a suitable method, see Clause 8. EN 13375:2004 (E) 8 5.2 Specification of the concrete Composition, properties, manufacturing, curing and storing of the concrete slabs shall be in accordance with EN 17

、66, concrete type MC (0,45) as specified in EN 1766:2000, subclauses 6.3.1.2, 6.4 and 6.5. The surface shall be clean and dry and free of all dust or laitance. 5.3 Surface roughness The surface, on which the waterproofing system is applied, shall have a surface texture of 0,5 mm to 1,0 mm, which sha

、ll be measured according to EN 1766:2000, Clause 7.2. NOTE If necessary, this roughness can be obtained by grit-blasting or high-pressure water-jetting. 6 Application of the waterproofing system The waterproofing system shall be applied on base specimen concrete slabs as described in this document o

、r in the relevant test standard. NOTE 1 To avoid the influence of vibrations during compaction, the concrete slabs can be laid on flat -ground using a soft intermediate layer (e.g. sand). The required number of slabs is prepared according to the number of intended tests and test methods. It might be

、 advantageous to hold them together by a stiff frame. Figure 2 gives an example of this procedure. Alternatively, the base specimens can be prepared separately for each test. The waterproofing system shall be applied in accordance with the instructions from the manufacturer, normally by torch-on-wel

、ding or by pour-and-roll technique. The type and amount of primer (bituminous, resin etc.) and adhesive bitumen (in the case of pour-and-roll technique system) shall be within the range defined by the manufacturer. NOTE 2 For torch-on systems it is important that a uniform welding wave is produced d

、uring application, but care should be taken not to overheat the polymer bitumen. For pour-and-roll technique systems, the temperature of the adhesive bitumen shall be checked during melting and application, and shall not exceed temperature ranges recommended by the manufacturer. After cooling to roo

、m temperature, the waterproofing shall be cut along the edges of the concrete slabs to obtain individual specimens to prepare for the different tests. The asphalt layer shall be applied in accordance with Clause 7.2 of this document. EN 13375:2004 (E) 9 Key 1 waterproofing system 2 asphalt layer 3 b

The measured values shall be within the tolerances. Mastic asphalt according to 7.1.2

、shall be used for all tests, if mastic asphalt is part of the producers defined waterproofing system. In all other cases the coarse bituminous mixture according to 7.1.3 shall be used. 7.1.2 Mastic asphalt max. aggregate size: 8 mm; grading: according to Fig. 3; binder type: 40/60 according to EN 12

NOTE The bituminous mixture described here fulfils the requirements of prEN 13108-1. 7.2 Laying and compaction The asphalt layer shall be applied at the above specified temperature onto the waterproofing system.

、 In the cases of an asphalt layer according to 7.1.3 this shall be compacted by any suitable means in order to obtain a void content between 5 % and 9 % for the specified thickness. NOTE A suitable compaction method is described in EN 12697-33. 7.3 Specimens type 2 The waterproofing sheet test piece

、 shall be placed with its upper surface facing upwards on the bottom of a steel mould. The asphalt layer shall then be applied to the test piece and compacted, if necessary. When the specimen and mould have cooled to room temperature the mould shall be removed. EN 13375:2004 (E) 11 If the waterproofing system consists of more than one sheet layer, only the top sheet layer shall have an asphalt layer applied to it. 8 Preparation of test specim
