Different testparametersarespecifiedaccordingtothetypeofmaterial,thetypeoftestspecimenandthetypeofnotch.1.2 Themethodisusedtoinvestigatethebehaviourofspecifiedtypesofspecimenundertheimpactconditionsdefined andfor estimating thebrittlenessortoughnessofspecimens within the limitati

31、ons inherent in the testconditions.1.3 Themethodissuitableforusewiththefollowingrangeofmaterials:null rigid thermoplasticmoulding andextrusionmaterials,inc ludingfilled and reinforced compounds in addition tounfilledtypes;rigidthermoplasticssheets;null rigid thermosettingmoulding materials,including

35、rudedorcastsheet.1.6 Themethodspecifiespreferreddimensionsforthetestspecimen.Testswhicharecarriedoutonspecimensofdifferentdimensionsorwithdifferentnotches,orspecimenswhicharepreparedunderdifferentconditions,mayproduceresultswhicharenotcomparable.Otherfactors,suchastheenergycapacityoftheapparatus,its

36、impactvelocityand theconditioning of the specimens canalsoinfluencethe results. Consequently, when comparativedataarerequired,thesefactorsmustbecarefullycontrolledandrecorded.1.7 Themethod should not be used as asource of data fordesign calculations.Information on thetypicalbehaviourofamaterialcanbe
