SCOPEThe ma terial defined by this specification is a clear UV stabilized resins

2、olution.2. APPLICATIONThis specification was released originally to describe the typicalpropert ies necessary for a clear protective coating for a polycarbonateheadlamp lens. However, in order to manufacture a parti cular lens or otherpart (s) additional requirements for the coating will be listed o

3、nEngineering Drawings. These req uirements must be met before any coating isapproved to this specification. Refer to para 5 for a partial list of thetitles of the known documents and specifications.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality Syst

4、emStand ard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 COMPOSITION3.2.1 VehicleOrga nic resins wit

5、h a UV absorber blended in appropriatema nner to meet all the requirements of this specification.Minor amounts of modifiers and/or plasticizers are allowed.3.2.2 Specific CompositionThe supplier will furnish the specific composition of theformulation upon request.3.3 PHYSICAL PROPERTIES3.3.1 Viscosi

7、ng to the following procedure:3.4.1 PanelsUnless otherwise specified, thermoplastic or thermosettingplastic materials, 2.5 - 4.0 mm thick of any con venient size,representative of production material. The panels shall becl eaned by an acceptable commercial process to remove moldrelea se agents, fing

8、erprints, oils, dirt, moisture and anyother surface contamination prior to coating.3.4.2 Primer (If Required)Apply sufficient primer to achieve 8 - 18 microm etre dry filmthickness. Cure primer per manufacturers recommendation.Film Thickness: FLTM B I 17-1, use Fischerscope MULTI 650 orequivalent.Pr

9、 ocedure: Substitute a steel panel for the thermoplasticpanel, (para 3.4.1), apply primer and cure per m anufacturersrecommendation. Measure film thickness on the steel panel.3.4.3 Clear TopcoatApply sufficient clearc oat to achieve 25 - 38 micrometre dryfilm thickness. Cure clear topcoat per manufa

10、cturersrecommendation.Film Thickness: FLTM B I 17-1, use Fischerscope MULTI 650 orequivalent.Pr ocedure: Substitute a steel panel for the thermoplasticpanel, (para 3.4.1), apply primer and cure per m anufacturersrecommendation. Haze may not increase by more than 0.5 %

Luminous transmittance may not decrease by more than0.5 % from the uncoated clear plastic.3.5.4 GeneralThe coating when cured shall be a presentable serviceablefilm s howing no craters, pinholes, seediness or abnormalroughness.3.6 FILM PROPERTIES3.6.1 Film HardnessShall be

13、 sufficiently hard at time of packing to withstandnormal handling.3.6.2 Adhesion(FLTM BI 106-01)No more than 1 % loss of adhesion.3.6.3 Abrasion Resistance, max 7 % increase in(FLTM BN 8-2, Taber Abrader, CS-10 hazewheel, 500 g load, 300 cycles)3.6.4 Water Resistance, min 240 h(FLTM BI 4-1)Test Meth

14、od: Immerse the panels for 240 h in distilled ordeionized water maintai ned at 32 +/- 1 C. Remove parts fromthe water and immediately scribe an X through the enamel tothe substrate. Dry the scribed area with a paper towel, clothor air pressure and immediately apply, with firm thumbpressure, a min of

15、 13 cm2 of ESF-M3G48 tape. Removal of paint beyond 1.6 mm from a scribe line. Any evidence of blistering o

16、r dulling of the paint at either the scribe or any other area of the panel. Evidence of adhesion loss of the clearcoat from the basecoat.3.6.5 Thermal Shock Resistance(FLTM BI 7-3)The enam el shall exhibit no blistering or loss of adhesionwhen subjected to the following cycle. 4 h water immersion. 4

17、 h minimum exposure at - 29 C. Antifreeze (50 % concentration of ethylene glycol base/distilled water by volume), Ford Service Part NumberE2FZ-19549 for ethylene glycol base. Reference Fuel D ASTM D 471.Test Procedure: Wipe t he entire coated surf

21、ace of the panelwith a 150 mm square soft cotton cloth (folded into 75 mmsquare) that has been immersed in a container containing 60mL o f one of the chemicals listed above. Each chemical isapplied to a separate panel. The amount of chemical on theclot h is controlled by beginning the wipe only afte

22、r thecloth has stopped dripping. One back and forth wipe shall beper formed in the horizontal directions, for the bottom,middle and finally the upper surface. Store the panel for 48h in an envi ronmental chamber at 23 +/- 4 C and RH of 30 %+/- 10 %. Clean the pa nel with a soft clean cloth. Inspectt

23、he panel without magnification.Test Acceptance Criteria: The panel surface shal l not exhibitany surface deteriorati on, coating delamination, fracture orcolor pick up.3.6.9 Weathering ResistancePanels prepared in acco rdance with para 3.3 shall be exposedas follows:. Florida exposure (Miami Area) 3

Accelerated Weathering 2000 h(FLTM BO 1-1)Test Acceptance Criteria: The panel surface when viewed with-out magnification shall not exhibit coating delamination,cra cking, checking or blistering. 28、mples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WS S-M99P9999-A1, unlessa different suffix (e.g., A2

29、 or A3) is specified on the engineeringdocument for the application.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineeri ng activity. Suppliers desiring approval ofthe ir materials shall first obtain an expression of interest

30、 from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity its own laboratory rep ort to the specification (test results, notnominal values), the material designation and code number, and testspecim e

31、ns for Ford evaluation. Upon approval, the material will be addedto the Engineering Material Approved Source List.5. GENERAL INFORMATIONThe information below is provided for clarification and assistance inmeeting the requirements of the specification.5.1 FLASH POINT Below 26 C(ASTM D 92)5.2 FLAMMABI

The ManufacturingEngineering Department shall notify both the Plant Security and theSafety Units of its pre sence in the Plant to assure that proper fireprecautions are provided. The location in which it is used or storedshall be included in the
