SCOPE The material defined by these specifications is a low modulus, high elongation silicone rubber with exce

APPLICATION ESE-M2D347-A This specification was released originally for material used as the best in class gasket for rocker arm cover and oil pan. ESE-M2D347-A3 This specification was released
4、 originally for low volatile silicone material used as the best in class gasket for rocker arm cover and oil pan. ow volatile silicone material must be used if contamination of emission components with silica is of concern. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material
5、suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 CONSTRUCTION The gasket shall consist of silicone rubber with metal compression limiters molded in place as designated by the part print. 3.2 METAL COMPRESSION LIMITERS MP1F
6、 FC0208-R Sintered Copper Steel 3.3 SLABS OR PARTS SPECIMENS Test specimens can be taken from either slabs or molded parts. To insure a proper cutting of specimens, backup all specimens with cardboard or a rubber slab. The ASTM slabs must be cured for 10 minutes at 177 C. Part specimens must be cut
7、as follows: Tensile per ASTM D 412, Die C, full thickness. If the length between the compression limiters is not long enough to accommodate a Die C, use a die exactly one-half the dimensions of the Die C. Tear per ASTM D 624, full thickness. Volume Change - 25.4 mm x part width x part thickness. Com
8、pression Set - 25.4 mm long x part width x single thickness minus any skirt. Do not buff any sample including those with a bead, except for Compression Set. Bend 180 over 12.7 mm diameter mandrel conditioned in the cold box. 3.3.6 Volatile Matter, max 0.5% ESE-M2D347-A3 Only (As Received) Weigh the complete part or gasket (rubber only: exclude compression limiters) to the nearest 1 mg, then place in a circulating air oven at 121 C for 3 h. Cool in a desiccator, reweigh and determine volatile matter.
