SCOPE The materials defined by these specifications consist of a low carbon steel core covered equally on both sides with a compressed graphite sheet. 2. APPLICATION These s pecifications were re
3、leased originally for material used where high temperature resistance is paramount, such as a gasket for the EGR valve and carburetor spacer. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 CONSTRUCTION 3.1.1 Steel Core Low carbon steel. Thickness: ESE - M8 G169 - A ESE - M8G169 - A2 0.0914 to 0.1509 to 0.1118 mm 0.1844 mm 3.1
4、.2 Graphite The compressed graphite sheet shall be plied uniformly and bonded to each side of the steel core to meet requirements of the application at the thickness specified on the e ngineering drawing. 3.2 FINISHED GASKET All tests shall be conducted in accordance with ASTM F 104, Type 5 material
5、s, unless otherwise specified. 3.2.1 Immersion in Liquids Distilled Water 22 h at boiling Permanent Antifreeze 48 h at boili ng After immersion in above fluids, as specified, the graphite shall be firm and must not separate from the steel core.
