SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a glycol type fluid. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for fluids used in the braking system of mo
3、tor vehicles. 3. REQUIREMENTS The materials must conform to all the requirements of FMVSS 116 DOT-3 motor vehicle brake fluid. In addition, this material must also conform to the following properties: 3.1 BOILING POINT, min. 280 C (FMVSS 116 S6.1) 3.2 WET ERBP, min. 180 C (FMVSS 116 S6.2) 3.3 FLASH
4、POINT, min. 149 C (ASTM D 92) 3.4 CREVICE CORROSION TEST FOR BRAKE FLUIDS No pitting or (FLTM BJ 7-5) except test coupons prepared corrosion on per SAE J 1703, and para. 3 should be cast iron 5% water. 3.5 PRODUCTION MATERIAL STANDARD Production shipments shall be equivalent to approved purchase sam
5、ples in laboratory and production use. 3.6 SUPPLIER RESPONSIBILITY All materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent in all characteristics to the material upon which approval was originally granted. Prior to making any changes in the properties, composition, construction, colour, proc
6、essing or labeling of the material originally approved under this specification, whether or not such changes affect the materials ability to meet teh specification requireemnts, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing and Materials Engineering of the proposed changes and obtain the written approval of
7、PEO Materials Engineering. Test data, test samples and a new code identification are to be submitted with the request. APPROVAL OF MATERIALS Materials definied by this specification must have prior a
9、pproval by Materials Engineering. Suppliers desiring approval of their materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from Purcahsing, Design and Materials Engineering. Upon request, the Supplier shall submit to Materials Engineering its own laboratory report to the specification (test resul
10、s, not nominal values), the material designation and code number, and test speimens for Ford evaluation. Upon approval, the material will be added ot the Engineering Materials Approved Source List. 5. TOXICITY OBJECTIONALBE ODOR The material shall contain no benzol (benzene), chlorinated or other to
11、xic compounds, or hydrolyzable chlorine derivatives, nor have an obnoxious or objectionable odor. 6. GENERAL INFORMATION This information is for direction of the user and in not a requirement for the supplier. 6.1 WARNING This material is hygroscopic, all containers must be air sealed or prevent the admission of moisture through breathing devices, as the presence of moisture in minute amounts lowers the boiling point of this material.
