3、d. The color code for conductor terminations shall be as shown in Chart 1. The bare or green colored insulated conductor shall be used as the grounding wire(s) in all cases. No Voltage on Male Pins: Circuits using plugs and receptacles shall be designed to prevent voltage from appearing on any male
4、pins. Power sources are usually terminated with female receptacles. Load equipment to be connected is furnished with male plugs. Under no circumstances shall two male caps be installed on one cord assembly. Each terminal screw of the plug, connector, or lamp assembly shall be equipped with a lock wa
5、sher captive to the screw. 6、ragraphs 3.1 and 3.2.2. 3.2.2 3.3 3.3.1 3.3.2 The number and AWG size of conductors in the cord, the type of plug, connector, or lamp fixture assembly, and the length of the cord shall be as specified in Chart 1 and the purchase order. Each plug and connector shall be equipped with a sleeve, as show
7、n in Figure 1, to protect the cord where it enters the plug or connector. The sleeve shall be oil and abrasion resistant and consist of thermo-plastic material similar to that of the cord jacket. The line conductors shall not extend more than one inch, and the bare or green grounding wire(s) not mor
8、e than 32 mm (1.25 in) from the outer jacket of the cord. These dimensions do not include the length of the connecting lugs specified in 3.1.10; however, the grounding conductor shall be at least 6.4 mm (0.25 in) longer than the line conductors. Each conductor shall be equipped with a ring type pres
9、sure connector (lug) of suitable size and capacity for the terminal screw and conductor. The conductor insulation shall extend to the end of the connector barrel. Each plug and cord connector shall include a malleable iron, threaded cable clamp with an open throat to clamp the cord and sleeve secure
10、ly in position. The clamp shall be installed so as to prevent strain on the individual conductors. EXTENSION LAHP ASSEMBLY: The lamp assembly consisting of the handle, lamp socket and guard shall be an Underwriters approved type. The socket shall have a minimum rating of 600 watts, 250 volts, and sh
11、all not contain a switch or receptacle. The lamp assembly handle shall be made of an oil resistant synthetic material. The handle shall provide a snug fit where the cord enters the handle, and be designed to exclude foreign material from the lamp socket. FORD MANUFACTURING STANDARDS Ew2 DECEMBER 199
12、3 EXTENSION CORDS AND LAMPS Ew2 Page 3 3.3.3 The metal lamp guard shall be grounded through a grounding strap which shall be permanently attached to the socket and provided with a screw-type terminal for the green conductor. 3.3.4 The plug end of the cord shall conform to requirements described in S
13、ections 3.1 and 3.2 of this standard. 3.3.5 The cord shall be provided with a strain relief located in the lamp assembly handle to distribute equally any strain among the three conductors. 4. APPROVALOFNEWMANUFACTURERS: Materials submitted by new manufacturers to this standard shall have laboratory
14、and shop trial approval. Recommendations for the addition of new manufacturers to the list of approved sources shall be made by the appropriate requisitioning activity in-writing to the Engineering Materials and Standards Department, Environmental and Safety Engineering Staff. All supporting data sh
15、all accompany the written request. 5. MANUFACTURERS RESPONSIBILITY: Material supplied to this standard shall be equivalent in all characteristics to the material upon which approval was originally granted and shall be suitable for the intended application.
