2、determine the shelf stability of paint by measuring the change in viscosity of the occurrence of hard settling after aging in an oven. Apparatus Required Paint Mixer or Mechanical Shaker Ford Viscosity Cup Cup Number as specified in relevant Material Specification. Mechanical Convection Oven Capable
3、 of maintaining a constant temperature of 60 +/- 2 C. Stop Watch Timer Laboratory Spatula Paint Can 300 mL or 500 mL capacity. Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity
4、 for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure 1. Shake the sample to be tested until thoroughly mixed (minimum of 5 minutes). 2. Check viscosity according to FLTM BI 111-01. FORD LABORATORY TEST METHOD BI 102-03 Page 2 of 2 Copyri
5、ght 2001, Ford Global Technologies, Inc. 3. Pour the sample into the can until it is three quarters full. 4. Seal the can and plate in the oven at 60 +/- 2 C for 16 h. 5. Remove the sealed can from the oven and cool to 23 +/- 2 C. 6. Determine whether settling of the sample has occurred by gently sc
6、raping the bottom of the can with the laboratory spatula. 7. Shake the sample until it is remixed (minimum of 5 minutes). 8. Recheck viscosity of the sample according to FLTM BI 111-01. Evaluation Report any change from the original viscosity or any occurrence of hard settling according to the relevant Material Specification. Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly. Each party is responsible for determining proper use and handling in its facilities.
