、corrosion of aluminum water pumps. Apparatus Required Test Stand Aluminum water pump erosion test stand (see illustration). Test stand must be assembled as illustrated (parts list included). Water pump assembly - C5AE 8501-E (C5AZ 8501-K) Cylinder front cover - C30E 6059-B Gasket - W/P - C20E 8507-C
、 (C20Z 8507-B) Gasket - cover - C20E 6020-A (C20Z 6020-A) Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 OC and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same c
、onditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure 1. Install pump and cover on bench stand. 2. Install test coolant; 15 % concentrate by volume - 85 % Detroit city tap water (Page 5), sight glass to be full. 3. Start up test stand and adjust to the following conditions: (a) (b) (c) (d) Pump speed - 50
、00 rpm Coolant temperature - 110 +/- 5 OF System pressure (Item #I7 on attached sketch) - 15 psig Pump discharge pressure (Item #23 on schematic) - 25 psig Copyright0 2001, Ford Global Technologies, Inc FORD LABORATORY TEST METHOD BL 003-01 Note: This pressure is obtained by setting Valve #21 to ful
、l open position and adjusting Valve #6 to obtain proper pressure. (e) Pump inlet pressure (Item #25) - 16 - 22 inches Hg. Vac. Note: This vacuum reading should result from the above test conditions, however, if there is difficulty in obtaining the proper inlet pressure, Valve #21 may be adjusted to
、obtain the specified pressures. 4. After the test conditions in Step 3 are obtained, increase the coolant temperature to 245 +/- 5 OF. Do not adjust the inlet or discharge valves at this temperature. Maintain 15 psig system pressure. Operate pump for 1 O0 hours under these test conditions. 5. Remove
