Procedure Cut a 500 x 150 mm sample of truck fabric in both warp and filling direction and a 64 x 150 mm sample of No. 1 O duck fabric. Calibrate the instrument following the directions in th
5、e instruction manual. Set crosshead speed to 125 mm/rninute and chart speed to 250 mm/minute by using proper gear combination as shown in gear selection chart for various speeds (see manual). Set load scale to 22.2 N. Attach steel plate to crosshead. Mount the truck fabric on the aluminum plate and
6、fasten securely at each end with clamps or masking tape so that the fabric does not wrinkle when conducting test. Mount No. 10 duck fabric on the steel block and fasten securely with masking tape. Center the steel block on front edge of aluminum plate. Hook the wire in screw eye of the metal block,
7、through pulley on back edge of the aluminum plate and into the top jaws of the Instron. (See Figure 1 .) Start test with no tension and ignore first 25 mm of chart. Allow test to run at least 125 mm on the fabric. Record the surface friction in Newtons from the chart and report as required by the En
8、gineering Material Specification. Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly.
