2、e the ash content of phenolic resins used in Foundry practice for the shell molding process. Apparatus Required Balance Analytical type. Muffle Furnace A muffle furnace capable of maintaining a temperature of 1650 +/- 20 F. Crucibles 25 mL porcelain with cover. Burner Bunsen or equivalent. Desiccato
3、r Charged with calcium chloride. Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise
4、 specified. Procedure 1. Ignite a crucible and cover in the muffle furnace at 1650 F for 30 minutes, cool in a desiccator and weigh to the nearest 0.1 mg. 2. 5、echnologies, Inc. 3. Partially cover the crucible and heat over a Bunsen burner so that the resin is charred without inflaming. If ignition occurs, cover the crucible to extinguish the flame and then continue heating as before. 4. When sample has charred and further danger of ignition has passed, tr
6、ansfer crucible and cover to the muffle furnace, remove the cover and ignite at 1650 F to constant weight. 5. Cover the crucible, cool in a desiccator and weigh. weight of ash x 100 = % ash weight of sample Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly.
