2、o measure the corrosive effect of electrical tape in contact with copper. Apparatus Required Copper Plates Two identical soft or annealed copper plates (SAE CA 102 through 120) thoroughly polished with a 100 grit aluminum oxide polishing wheel to remove all surface contamination. Oven Mechanical con
3、vection, maintained at 100 +/ - 2 C. Clamps “C“ clamps or equivalent. Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/ - 2 C and 50 +/ - 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested und
4、er the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure 1. Tape specimens of c onvenient length shall be cut from each sample roll and placed adhesive side down on one of the copper plates. An area of the plate at least equal to twice the area of the longest tape specimen shall be left uncovere
5、d as a control area. Separate copper p lates are required for each test sample. 2. Place the second copper plate directly over the first and clamp firmly and uniformly with “C“ clamps. 3. Place the assembly in the oven at 100 +/ - 2 C for 72 hours. 4. Allow assembly to cool to 23 +/ - 2 C be fore re
6、moving the clamps and test specimens of tape. 5. Upon removal of the clamps and tape specimens, examine both plates (one having been in contact with the back side and the other with the adhesive side of the tape specimens) for any evidence of corro sion or chemical reaction as indicated by color cha
7、nge. Use the polished copper area of the plates not in contact with the tapes as the color control for comparisons. 6. Report as required by the Engineering Material Specification. Chemicals, materials , parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly. Each party is responsible for determining proper use and handling in its facilities.
