2、ISH ON IRON CASTING S-M2P4527-B NOT TO BE USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE This specification defines the quality of paint finishes required for iron castings. 2. APPLICATION This paint finish is specified where resistance to alkali, transmission lubricants, binding of molding sand residues and desired

3、color is required. 2.1 QUALITY This required quality may be obtained as follows: 1) Good commercial cleaning 2) Baking primer (dry film thickness minimum 4 micron) or 3) Air drying primer (dry film thickness 15 - 20 micron) 2.2 FILM PROPERTIES 2.2.1 Initial Hardness The part finish shall be sufficie

4、ntly hard to withstand normal handling at time of packing without damage. 2.2.2 Adhesion No chipping (FLTM EU-BI 6-1) 2.3 RESISTANCE PROPERTIES 2.3.1 Wash Solution Resistance The paint finish shall show no signs of blistering, softening and dissolving when subjected to immersion in a wash solution a

5、t 80 C for 5 minutes. Note: Composition of wash solution to remove millings: EU-M5B8002 1 - 1.3 % EU-M5B8003 0.5 - 1 % 2.4 RESISTANCE TO TRANSMISSION LUBRICANTS Parts, not washed off, and pretreated according to Section 2.3 shall be aged 24 hours at room temperature before running the following test

7、00 hours at 120 C 3. OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS The film shall be hard to such an extent that during processing millings shall not bake on or pierce the film. 3.1 GENERAL When it is not feasible to test actual parts, test panels my be substituted. These test panels shall be processed under production,

8、 conditions, analogous to actual parts. Test panels shall be according to DIN-Norm 1623, Type RRSt 14-05 or according to BS 1449, Part 1 B, 1962 or 1 (E) and a surface finish of 45 - 65 CLA (microinch). Note: If not otherwise specified, air dried surfaces shall be aged 7 days and stoved surfaces 72

9、hours at room temperature or 16 hours at 45 C, prior to testing. 3.2 APPEARANCE Parts shall be equal to the approved sample concerning color and leveling. 3.3 DETERIORATION IN QUALITY Any deterioration, caused by processing limitations, is not permitted. 3.4 All revisions to this specification must

10、be approved by the affected Product Engineering Office. 3.5 RECOMMENDED MATERIALS S-M62J7-B Baking Quality S-M4J304-B Air Drying Quality 3.6 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITY All materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent in all characteristics to the material upon which approval was origina

11、lly granted. Prior to making any change in the properties, composition, construction, color, processing or labeling of the material originally approved under this specification, whether or not such changes affect the materials ability to meet the specification requirements, the Supplier shall notify

12、 Purchasing, Toxicology and the affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changes and obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineering activity. Test data, test samples and a new code identification are to be submitted with the request. Substance restrictions imposed by law, re

13、gulations or Ford, apply to the materials addressed by this document. The restrictions are defined in Engineering Materials Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1. 14、L OF MATERIALS Materials defined by this specification must have prior approval by the responsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approval of their materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from the affected Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Upon

15、 request, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineering activity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by a qualified and authorized representative of the test facility, demonstrating full compliance with all the requirements of this specification (test results,

16、 not nominal values), the material designation and code number, and test specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of a material will be based on its performance to this specification and on an assessment of suitability for intended processes and/or applications. Upon approval, the material will be added to the Engineering Material Approved Source List.
