2、C PARTS1. SCOPEThe materials defined by these specifications are abrasion resistant cleartopcoats for interior plastic parts.2. APPLICATIONThese specifications were released originally to describe the typicalproperties necessary for a clear protective coating eith er applied directlyto a lens or app

3、lied over pad stamp ink, paint or other decorativetreatme nt applied to the lens. The coating will eliminate static chargefrom plastic parts and prevent further accumulation of new charge.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStand ar

4、d Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONSAll test values indic

5、ated herein are based on ma terial conditioned ina control led atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relativehumidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under thesame conditions unless otherwise specified.3.3 COMPOSITION3.3.1 VehicleA p olysiloxane resin solution that can be reacte

7、 Page 2 of 7 3.4 PHYSICAL PROPERTIES3.4.1 Viscosity, Package 15 - 18 s(ASTM D 3794, para 6.1.3, Zahn #2)3.4.2 Non-Volatile, min 20(FLTM BI 102-01)3.5 PREPARATION OF TEST PANELS3.5.1 PanelsUnless otherwise specified, thermoplastic or thermosettingplastic materials, 2.5 - 4.0 mm thick of any con venie

8、nt size,representative of produ ction materials. The panels shall becl eaned by an acceptable commercial process to remove moldrelea se agents, fingerprints, oils, dirt, moisture and anyother surface contamination prior to coating.3.5.2 Clear CoatingApply su fficient clearcoat to achieve 3 - 8 micro

9、metre dryfilm thickness. Cure clear topcoat per manufacturersrecommendation.Film Thickness: Beta B ackscatterEquipment:. TC-200 Beta Scope or equivalent. Probe. Radi oactive Isotope - Promethium 147, energy 0.22 Mev -mounted in platten. Stand ards - Use the material that is representative ofproduc t

10、ion material at the following coating thicknesses:0 film, 3 micrometre, 4 micrometre, 5 micrometre, 7micrometre, and 15 micrometreProcedure:. Cali brate beta backscatter instrument using standards,store calibration value(s). Take a t least ten readings on different areas of the testpane l to determi

11、ne film thickness and uniformity ofcoverage. Record all readings.3.6 APPEARANCE3.6.1 Color, max Clear, yellowness(ASTM D 1925) index, YI 3.003.6.2 Gloss(FLTM BI 110-01, 60 deg glossmeter)Not more than a 10 % decrease in gloss relative to theuncoated plastic.3.6.3 Clar

13、ity(ASTM D 1003)Haze may not increase by more than 0.5 % from the uncoatedplastic.Luminous transmittance may not decrease by more than 0.5 %from the uncoated clear plastic.3.6.4 GeneralThe coating when cured shall be a presentable serviceabl e filmshowing no craters, pinholes, seediness or abnormal

15、esistance 96 h(ASTM D 2247, 35 C at 95 % relativehumidity, min)Coated pa nels conditioned per para 3.2 shall be placed in ahumidity c abinet maintained at 37 +/- 2 C and 95 +/- 5 %relative humidity for 96 h mini mum. After exposure, scribe an“X“ through the coating to the substrate. Dry the coatin g

16、 witha paper towel, cloth or forced air and immediately apply withfirm thumb pressure 13 cm2 of 3 M 898-2 tape. Remove the tapeby pulling one at 90 deg angle at a moderate speed.The following shall be basis for rejection:. Removal of coating beyond 1.6 mm from the scribe line. Any evid ence of blist

17、ering or dulling of the coating onthe test panel. Evidence of loss of adhesion of the coating.3.7.4 Resistance to Cleaners(ASTM D 2486)References: ES-F2AF-1A269-AA and MIL Std 883C, Method 2 015.8.Solvent solutions:A) A mixture consisting of the following:1) Nine parts by volume deionized water.2) O

18、ne part by volume ammonia based cleaner.B) A mixture consisting of the following:1) One part by volume of isopropyl alcohol, A.C.S.(Ame rican Chemical Society) Regent Grade, orisopropyl alcohol per TT-I 735, Grade A or B and2) Three parts by volume of minera l spirits (M14J167) orthree by volume of

Soakbrush in each solution for 15 minutes and add an additional10 mL of solution onto the moun ted test panel. Scrub for 250cycles. Rinse with deionized water and dry.The following shall be basis for rejection:.

21、 Any evidence of blistering or dulling of the coating onthe test panel. Evidence of loss of adhesion of the coating. Evidence of scratches visible to the unaided eye.3.7.5 Scratch Resistance 50 cycles(ASTM D 2486 modified)Test Procedure for WSB-M15J8-A1:Substitute Grade 0000 steel woo l for the nylo

22、n bristle brush.Chang e load from 450 g to 1800 g. Start the test. Removeafter 50 cycles and examine sample for change.Test Procedure for WSB-M15J8-A2:Substitute grade 0000 steel woo l for the nylon bristle brush.Change load from 450 g to 2500 g. Start the test. Remove after50 cycles and examine the

23、 sample for change.The following shall be basis for rejection:. Any evidence of blistering or dulling of the coating onthe test panel. Evidence of loss of adhesion of the coating. Evidence of scratches visible to the unaided eye.3.7.6 Static Charge (WSB-M15J8-A1 only)Treate d plastic parts must not

25、 temperature after anti-statictreatment before testing.Perform t he test first on a piece of untreated plastic tocheck the operation of the equi pment. Using 5 double passes,rub the s ample with a clean wool cloth to induce anelect rostatic charge. Position the detecting head at themanu facturers re

26、commended distance of 9.5 mm (for theKeithley Model 2501) from the rubbed surface of the samp le andread the potential of the surface. This reading should b e wellab ove 800 volts and will indicate that the equipment isfunctioning properly. Duplicate the above test using a sampletreated with the ant

27、i-static material defined by thisspecification. The potential reading for both sides of theentire part must be 800 volts or less.3.7.7 Static Charge Stability (WSB-M15J8-A2 only)Pass 3.2.1 (after 30 days minimum).3.7.8 Weathering Resistance 400 kJ(SAE J2081)Ev aluation: No blistering, peeling, crack

28、ing, crazing andcolor change in excess of AATCC Rating 4.3.8 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equ ivalent in allchar acteristics to the material upon which approval was originallygranted.Prio r to making any change in the properties, composition,constructi

29、on, color, processing or labeling of the mater ial originallyapproved under this specificati on, whether or not such changes affectthe materials ability to meet the specification requirements, theSupplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology and the affectedMaterials Engineering activity of the propo

30、sed changes and obtain thewritten approval of the Materials Engineering activity. Test data,test sam ples and a new code identification are to be submitted withthe request.Substa nce restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply toth e materials addressed by this document. The restrictions

APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMaterials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineeri ng activity. Suppliers desi

32、ring approval oftheir mat erials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffecte d Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringact ivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by aq

33、ualified and authorized repres entative of the test facility, demonstratingfu ll compliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), t he material designation and code number, andtest spec imens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of amateria l will be based on its performance to this specification and on anassess ment of suitability for intended processes and/or applications. Uponapproval, the material will be added to the Engineering Material ApprovedSource List.
