SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a solvent/resin blend adhesion promoting primer. 2. APPLICATION This primer is intended f
3、or use on painted and unpainted fascia, body side moldings and other plastic exterior trim parts. The primer is applied to a part/facia in preparation for attaching a trim piece, for example a fascia rubstrip, that has been laminated to tape. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION
4、MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.4 VISCOSITY 200 - 700 mPa.s (ASTM D 1084, Method B) 3.5 SOLIDS, min 7 % (ASTM D 2834) 3.6 WEIGHT PER VOLUME (ASTM D 816) The weight tolerance for any given
5、supplier shall be +/- 0.025 kg/L based on the recorded weight of the original approved production sample. See para 5.3. 3.7 OPEN TIME The material shall be dry to the touch prior to applying the part with the acrylic foam tape. Maximum open time shall not exceed one hour and primer applied surfaces
6、shall be kept free of contamination (e.g. dirt, heavy dust, oils, grease, alcohol, etc.). 7、 for conformance to the applicable tape specification indicated on the design drawing. Results must be provided to the responsible Body Engineering activity prior to release. Tape application to substrates not specified in para 5.6 is permitted provided all specification requirements are met. 3.9 ST
8、ORAGE STABILITY Shall be stored below 35 C, away from all sources of heat such as ovens, direct sunlight, etc. Under these storage conditions, the maximum shelf life of the material, from date of shipment from the supplier, shall be 12 months. 3.10 QUALITY The material shall be a smooth, homogeneous
9、 mixture free from foreign materials and properties detrimental to normal production operations. 3.11 FUNCTIONAL APPROVAL Materials being evaluated for approval to this specification shall be subjected to a production trial. Functional trial results must be approved by the affected assembly operatio
10、n and Design Engineering. Results shall be made available to Materials Engineering prior to material approval and release. 5. GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for clarification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. 5.1 FLASH POINT 60 C (ASTM D 9

12、E This adhesion promoter must be coated very thin in order to ensure maximum performance. Under normal conditions, a drying time of less than one minute is indicative of acceptable coating thickness. Acceptable coating thickness is 0.025 - 0.05 mm. A consistent coating across the entire bonding area
13、 of the part is required. Care should be taken to prevent splashing the material on any Class A surface. 5.5 ODOR After drying, the primer should be relatively odor-free. 5.6 MATERIAL REFERENCES FOR TEST PANELS Rim Plaques - Use ESB-M2D263-A4 or currently released body material. Paint - Use ESB-M2J218-A1/A2 or currently released body materials. Tape - Use ESB-M3G138-A or currently released body material.
