、he material defined by this specification is a polyamide thread manufactured as a single cord incorporating two separate plies. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used as sewing thread for ruching operations in the manufacture of automotive seat or trim assemblies
、 or as specified on the Engineering Drawing. 3. REQUIREMENTS In addition to the requirements quoted herein, this material must meet the requirements of the Performance Specification, WSD-M8P5-B. 3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESS Suppliers must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality System Standard Q-101.
、 A mutually acceptable Control Plan as described therein is required for material/source approval. Appropriate statistical tools must be used to analyze process/product data so that variation in the final product is continuously reduced. 3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSIS Ford Mo
、tor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/or thermal analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification. The IR spectra and thermogram established for initial approval shall constitute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at the designated material laboratory. All sampl
、es shall produce IR spectra and/or thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when tested under the same conditions. 3.3 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONS All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative hum
、idity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Upon request, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineering activity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by a qualified and authorized representative of the test facility, demonstrating full complianc
、e with all the requirements of this specification (test results, not nominal values), the material designation and code number, and test specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of a material will be based on its performance to this specification and on an assessment of suitability
、for intended processes and/or applications. Upon approval, the material will be added to the Engineering Material Approved Source List. 5. GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for clarification and assistance in meeting the requirements of the specification. 5.1 FINISH 9.5 +/-
、 3 % The finish shall consist of hard polyamide resin as a bonding agent and a suitable lubricant, e.g., a polyethylene and silicone type. The primary criterion for acceptability of the finish shall be the threads sewability. Finish content outside this range may be considered acceptable providing that the amount of lubricant or resin does not adversely affect the sewability performance or yield of the thread. 5.2 PUT UP Nominal Length per Spool 5000 m Alternative lengths may be supplied to suit manufacturing requirements.
