SCOPE The materials defined by these specifications are solvent borne air drying rust preventives which contai
3、n an UV marker in order to identify over-spray areas after application. They dry to clear elastic films with high corrosion resistance. 2. APPLICATION These specifications were released originally for materials used as an additional protection against corrosion. These materials are applied after pai
4、nting on e.g. mig welded hinge areas. 3. 7、d containers out of direct sunlight at temperatures between 5 and 32 C. 3.5 PREPARATION OF TEST PANELS 3.5.1 Substrate Ford Standard Steel Panels, prepared with standard white paint according to respective material specification, if not otherwise required. Apply the material under test by: a) sprayi
8、ng or b) raking with a template If method b) is used, protect bare steel areas of the test panels with an approved rust preventive. 3.5.2 Film Thickness 40 - 50 micrometer (FLTM BI 117-01) 3.6 DRYING TIME, max 30 minutes Dry to handle after the required time at 23 +/- 2 C. 3.7 SALT SPRAY RESISTANCE
9、168 h (ASTM B 117) Substrate Mild Steel Standard Panels, prepared according to FLTM BJ 106-01, solvent wiped. 10、Copyright 2012, Ford Global Technologies, LLC Page 3 of 3 3.9 FLOW PROPERTIES No flow at 80 +/- 2 C Test Method: Coat one half of the panel with the material under test and allow to dry in a vertical position for 16 h at 23 +/- 2 C. A thin marking line shall be drawn across the panel 3 mm below and
11、parallel to the bottom edge of the coating on the panel. The panel shall be suspended vertically, coated side up, for 1 h in an oven at 80 +/- 2 C. After removal from the oven the panel is examined. Any evidence of flow shall be considered as failure. 3.10 STAINING OF TOP COAT None Substrate Standar
12、d white and black painted panels. Test Method: Store one panel of each color in an oven at 45 C and one panel of each color outside of direct sun light or an artificial UV radiation source area. After 168 h compare both sets of panels. 3.11 IDENTIFICATION OF OVERSPRAY AREAS Coated areas shall be visible as fluorescent areas when exposed to an UV radiation source. 3.12 REMOVAL The material shall be removable from the enamel within 15 minutes after application with a suitable organic solvent.
