2、mpound which is resistant to temperatures between - 40 C and + 250 Cwithin joint faces. The sealer will resist automotive fluids well in excessof normal operating temperatures and gives good clamping force retentioneven where vibration may be encountered.The sealer is supplied, in a range of dilutio

3、ns, with a solvent which isallowed to evaporate between application and fitting to leave a flexible,coherent film.2. APPLICATIONThis material was originally released for sealing clean mating surfaces onengine or transmission and/or as specified on Engineering drawings.3. REQUIREMENTSThe grade of sea

4、ler supplied shall be suitable for the method ofapplication as defined by the relevant Component Engineer and ManufacturingDivision.3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSuppliers must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStandard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is requir

5、ed for material/source approval. Appropriatestatistical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/orthermal analysi

6、s of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for initial approval shallconstitute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated material laboratory. All samples shall produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the referen

7、ce standard when testedunder the same conditions.3.3 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONSAll test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned ina controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relativehumidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under thesame conditions

9、 150-10)3.4.3 ASH, %, +/- 4 20 20 (FLTM BV 150-10)3.5 SOLVENT FREE SEALERPreparation of Test PanelsThe test panels are to be made of aluminum alloy to BS 1470 S1C/DIN1745 Al 99/ASTM B 209 1100, size 200 x 25 x 0.7 mm approximately.Dress the panels with grade 00 emery paper and d egrease thoroughly b

10、ywashing with pure acetone. Coat the lower three quarters of one sideof the panel with the sample to give a wet film thickness of 0.2 mmand a llow to dry for 24 h at room temperature in well ventilatedarea.3.5.1 Plasticity after Heat Ageing(16 h at 150 +/- 2 C, 1 h at 23 +/- 2 C)The film shall remai

11、n p lastic and coherent after bending 180degrees around a 100 mm mandrel.3.5.2 Plasticity at Low Temperatures(-40 +/- 1 C for 1 h)No cracking or chipping after 180 degree bend ar ound a 100 mmmandrel at - 40 C.Note: For the following clauses, 3.5.3 and 3.5. 4, the sampleshall be completely immersed

12、in the test fluid and shall besupp orted so as to be clear of the bottom of the immersioncontainer. The panels shall be removed and allowed to drainfor 1 h prior to inspection.3.5.3 Resistance to Oil Immersion(140 +/- 2 C for 4 h, ASTM Oil No. 3)No si gnificant evidence of swelling, softening ordegr

14、ara 5.1).3.5.5 Torque Retention TestTest Method:The test fixture is shown in the appendix. Thoroughlydegrease the mating sur faces with pure acetone and brush thesample as thinly as pos sible over both surfaces and allow toair dry for 10 minutes. Bolt the fixture togethe r and tighteneach nut to a t

15、orque of 9.0 Nm. Wait 10 minutes and retorqueif necessary to 9.0 Nm.Condition the fixture in an air circulating oven at 250 +/-5 C for 24 h. Remove t he fixture from the oven and allow tocool to room temperature.The minimum torque to tighten each nut further is 7.9 Nm.3.6 STORAGE STABILITY, min 12 m

16、onths(From date of receipt at Ford Motor Company)When stored in sealed unopened containers out of direct sunlight atambient temperatures between 5 and 32 C.The supplier must label each container to indica te expiration date ofthe material and production usage beyond expiration date is notpermitted.3

17、.7 QUALITYThe material shall be of uniform quality free from foreign materialand pro perties detrimental to normal production use. It shall notcause excessive soiling of handlers in normal production use.3.8 ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSSpecific requirements for material and/or manufa ctured parts shall b

18、especified on the Engineering drawing, Engineerin g parts specificationand/or performance specifications. All critical areas with respect tothese properties shall be clearly designated on the engineeringdrawing.3.9 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equivale

20、r this specification, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequir ements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringac

21、tivity. Test data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WS S-M99P9999-A1, unlessa

22、 different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineeringdocument for the application.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineeri ng activity. Suppliers desiring approval ofthe ir materials shall first obtai

23、n an expression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by aqualified and authorized representative of the test

24、faci lity, demonstratingful l compliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), the material designation a nd code number, andtes t specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of amateri al will be based on its performance to this specificati

25、on and on anassessment of suitability for i ntended processes and/or applications. Uponapprov al, the material will be added to the Engineering Material ApprovedSource List.5.
