APPLICATIONThis s pecification was released originally for coating compounds andaddit ionally sealing compounds to achieve a barrier anticorrosive andantistick coating and a superior sealing of gaskets.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the req
3、uirements of Ford Quality SystemStanda rd Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedth erein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPE
4、CTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/ortherma l analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for i nitial approval shallconst itute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at
5、 thedesignated material lab oratory. All samples shall produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when testedunder the same conditions.3.3 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONSPrior t o testing, the gaskets shall be conditioned as specified inth e material specification o
6、f the affected gasket material. Alltests shall be conducted in accordance with ASTM F 104. The specimensare to be selected from finished gaskets.3.4 RESISTANCE TO ASTM OIL NO. 3(ASTM F 146, 5 h at 150 +/- 2 C)Condition aged specimen s for 30 minutes at 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 %relativ e humidity. Th
7、e coating shall show no sign of continuousseparation from base ma terial. 9、r (see para 5.1) and distilled water(50/5 0 vol. %) by using a suitable distillation flask and a refluxcondenser for 24 h at boiling temperature. Condition aged specimensfor 30 minut es at 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity. Thecoating shall show no sign of continuous separation from basema

Formation of small bubbles permitted.3.7 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent inal l characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Pr ior to making any changes in the properties, composition,co nstruction, color,
11、processing or labelling of the materialorig inally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequir ements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed chang
12、esand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, test samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford apply tothe mat erials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined
13、in Engineering Material Specification WS S-M99P9999-A1, unlessa different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineeringdocument for the application.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineeri ng activity. S
14、uppliers desiring approval ofthe ir materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffect ed Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity its own laboratory rep ort to the specification (te
15、st results, notnominal values), the material designation and code number, and testspecimen s for Ford evaluation.
