2、SK-M98P5-A NOT TO BE USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE This specification defines performance requirements for finished interior plastic parts consisting of various components and/or materials. The numerical values not defined within this document will be specified on this document table found on Enginee
3、ring Drawing. 2. APPLICATION These parts are generally used in the passenger compartment for application such as e.g. instrument panel coverings, glove box lids, pillar coverings etc. 3. REQUIREMENTS General Definitions regarding Requirements and Test Methods Based on the construction of the finishe
4、d parts the requirements are divided into various material groups (see Table 1 for recommendation of requirements for different material groups). Test requirements vary in respect of application and are defined by the methods as specified (see Table 1). Specified test requirements (test methods) are
5、 as specified on Engineering drawing for the finished part. Test according to para 3.4, 3.5, 3.6, 3.7, and 3.8 of Table 1 shall be carried out on the complete finished part or a representative section of the finished part containing all material groups. Each material group shall be evaluated separat
6、ely. Surface requirements (from para 3.9 onwards) shall be tested separately for each material group (see Table 1). They shall be tested only if not already tested to individual material specification requirements as quoted on Engineering Drawing. 3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESS Suppliers must conform to th
7、e requirements of Ford Quality System Standard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as described therein is required for material/source approval. Appropriate statistical tools must be used to analyze process/product data so that variation in the final product is continuously reduced. ENGINEERI
8、NG MATERIAL SPECIFICATION WSK-M98P5-A WP 3948-b Page 2 of 9 3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSIS Ford Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/or thermal analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification. The IR spectra and thermograms established for initial
9、approval shall constitute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at the designated material laboratory. All samples shall produce IR spectra and thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when tested under the same conditions. 3.3 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONS All test values
10、 indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. 3.4 APPEARANCE (FLTM BI 109-01) Color, gloss and surface finish shall
11、 match the Master Appearance Sample as approved by the Design Department. 3.5 ADHESION Adhesion shall be tested on the original part and 15 to 30 minutes after the relevant ageing tests. Test Methods: One of the following test conditions has to be chosen according to application and shown on Enginee
12、ring Drawing. 3.5.1 Coating Adhesion No chipping (FLTM BI 106-01, Method C) 3.5.2 Peel Strength As specified on (ASTM D 1000, evaluate plot Eng. Drawing according to ISO 6133, Figure 1) 3.5.3 Manual Separation The individual layers of material must not be separable from each other by mechanical mean
13、s without cohesive break. 3.5.4 Visual Evaluation The finished part shall show no evidence of blisters or delamination. 14、r other failures to an extent that would affect its use in the ultimate assembly. There shall be no local shrinkage where the part has been gated which would interfere with assembly to relating parts, or affect its appearance. The finished part shall show no change in appearance when compared with t
15、he original part. The adhesion of the individual surface coating shall meet the requirements of paragraph 3.5 Test Methods: One of the following test conditions has to be chosen according to application and shown on Engineering Drawing. 3.6.1 Condition A Mount the finished part according to vehicle
16、installation on a suitable fixture and place it in car position in a mechanical convection oven maintained at 80 +/- 1 C for 3 h. Evaluate after conditioning at 23 +/- 2 C and a storage of 24 h at 23 +/- 2 C. 3.6.2 Condition B As under para 3.6.1, except use the unmounted part. 3.6.3 Condition C As
17、under para 3.6.1, except maintain part at test temperature as specified on Engineering Drawing. 3.6.4 Condition D As under para 3.6.1, except maintain the unmounted part at test temperature as specified on Engineering Drawing. 3.7 ENVIRONMENTAL CYCLING (FLTM BQ 104-07) The finished part shall show n
18、o evidence of warpage, deformation, cracks, delamination or other failures to an extent that would affect its use in the ultimate assembly. The finished part shall show no changes in appearance when compared with the original finished part. The adhesion of the individual surface coating shall meet t
19、he requirements of para 3.5. Test Methods: The specific test condition has to be selected according to the application and shown on the Engineering Drawing. 20、ks or other failures. Test Methods: One of the following test conditions has to be defined according to application and shown on Engineering Drawing. 3.8.1 Condition A The finished part shall be mounted as assembled in the vehicle in a suitable device and stored for 16 h at - 30 +/- 1 C. Remove part
21、 from cold box, place in horizontal position and within 5 s after removal drop a steel ball of 225 +/- 5 g and approx. 38 mm in diameter onto the test sample from a height of 600 mm. The impact shall be carried out on areas regarded as most vulnerable in respect of shape and installation on the vehi
22、cle. Evaluate after conditioning to room temperature. Note: The parts shall be aged for 24 h at 80 +/- 1 C prior to cold exposure. 3.8.2 Condition B The mounted finished part shall be stored as defined under para 3.8.1, except height of drop 300 mm. 3.9 RESISTANCE TO WEATHERING (Applicable to parts
23、using materials without previous weathering approval) After exposure the part shall show no fading or color change in excess of specified AATCC rating (AATCC Gray Scale for Evaluating Change in Color, 10 step). In addition, there shall be no cracking, crazing or other deterioration. All initial appr
24、ovals will be based on the preliminary Weatherometer exposure (para 3.9.1), pending Florida exposure results for final approval. 3.9.1 Xenon Arc Weatherometer Rating 4 (SAE J1885, Irradiation except Rating 4-5 (in kJ/m2) as defined on for PP & TPO Engineering Drawing 3.9.2 12 months Florida Rating 4

Drawing Applicable for group I and II (painted) parts only. 3.11 RESISTANCE TO ABRASION (Taber) (FLTM BN 108-02, 500 g load, CS-10 wheels, - cycles) The abraded area shall be compatible with t
27、he adjacent unabraded area. The number of test cycles must be selected according to the application and shown on the Engineering Drawing. 3.12 RESISTANCE TO ABRASION (Stoll) (FLTM BN 154-01, 1000 cycles) The abraded area shall be compatible with the adjacent unabraded area. Tests carried out on orig
28、inal parts and after heat aging (para 3.6) and environmental cycling (para 3.7). Applicable for group III, plastic, hot stamped/metallized/printed material parts only. 3.13 RESISTANCE TO CROCKING Rating 5 (FLTM BN 107-01, dry & wet) 3.14 RESISTANCE TO SYNTHETIC PERSPIRATION (FLTM BI 113-03) The part
29、 shall not show any change in color or gloss or softening of surface. 3.15 RESISTANCE TO WATER SPOTTING (FLTM BI 113-01, except soap solution shall be omitted) No change in color tone and/or gloss. The adhesion of the individual surface shall meet the requirements of para 3.5. Applicable for group II, painted and group III, plastic/wood, hot stamped/metal
31、ized parts only. 3.17 RESISTANCE TO DETERIORATION AND MIGRATION STAINING (FLTM BN 103-01) The part shall not show any surface deterioration or change in color. 3.18 ADHESIVE STAINING The part shall not show any change in color or staining. Test Method: The part shall be placed in the fluorescent sun
32、lamp for 150 h. Examination shall be done after cooling to room temperature. Equipment according to FLTM BO 115-01. 34、al was originally granted. Prior to making any changes in the properties, composition, construction, color, processing or labelling of the material originally approved under this specification, whether or not such changes affect the materials ability to meet the specification requirements, the Suppl
35、ier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology and the affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changes and obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineering activity. Test data, test samples and a new code identification are to be submitted with the request. Substance restrictions im
36、posed by law, regulations or Ford, apply to the materials addressed by this document. The restrictions are defined in Engineering Material Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1, unless a different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineering document for the application. 4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALS
37、This specification is intended to define the performance and/or properties of finished parts or systems of combined materials. An Engineering Material Approved Source listing is not applicable for this specification. Product Engineering materials referenced in this document and/or the affected engin
38、eering drawing which require prior Engineering approval are shown in the Engineering Material Approved Source List under the specification cited. 5. GENERAL INFORMATION If any of above tests cannot be carried out on the finished part due to dimension, design etc. a respective note shall be made in t
39、he Initial Sample Report and submitted for approvals to the Materials Development Laboratory, Product Engineering.
