2、of 2 PLATING, CHROMIUM, FASTENERS WSS-M1P91-A1 NOT TO BE USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE This specification defines the performance requirements for electrodeposited chromium and other metals for the decoration and corrosion protection of ferrous and non-ferrous substrates. 2. APPLICATION This specific
3、ation was released originally for use on fasteners where the chromium luster is a styling requirement. This finish provides a degree of corrosion resistance but this should not be the primary criteria for selection. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material supplier

Page 2 of 2 3.3 CASS TEST 16 h (ASTM B 368) Prior to corrosion testing, screws shall be driven into a steel panel using 50% of the minimum torsional strength as specified in the appropriate Perf
7、ormance Specification for the fastener. Assemble samples to a sample holder designed for the configuration of the fastener. Sample holders shall be made of an inert corrosion resistant material such as acrylics, polyvinyl chloride or similar material. The holder size and thickness depends upon the s
8、ize and number of fasteners being tested. No wood shall be used in the construction of sample holders as the sap acidity can affect the corrosion result. Place the holder and samples in the cabinet with the holder at 25 +/- 5 from the vertical and with the significant surface facing the principal direction of horizontal flow of fog through the chamber. The finished part shall pass the specified CASS cycle with no evidence of red rust or other discoloration on significant surfaces.
