It is a non-electrolytic type coati
3、ng which is suitable for use with heat treatedcomponents (will not induce hydrogen embrittlement).2. APPLICATIONThis specification was released originally for friction/wearapplications here the unit loading exceeds 35 MPa.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 QUALITY SYSTEM REQUIREMENTSMaterial suppliers and part prod
4、ucers must conform to QualitySystem Requirements, QS-9000. Material specification requirementsare to be used for initial qualification of materials. A ControlPlan for ongoing production verification is required. This planmust be reviewed and approved by the relevant Ford Materialsactivity and/or For
5、d Supplier Technical Assistance (STA) prior toproduction parts submission. Appropriate statistical tools must beused to analyze process/product data and assure consistentprocessing of the materials.Part producers using this material in their products, must use Fordapproved materials and must conform
6、 to a process control plan whichhas been approved by STA and/or the relevant Materials Activity.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/orthermal analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and the
7、rmograms established for initial approvalshall constitute the reference standard and shall be kept on fileat the designated material laboratory. 8、CIFICATIONWSS-M21P33-AWP 3948-b Page 2 of 33.3 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONSAll test values indicated herein are based on material conditionedin a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relativehumidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested underthe same conditions unless
9、 otherwise specified.3.4 APPLICATION CHARA CTERISTICSThis material is suitable for applications where either the entirepart or portions thereof are to be coated. This can be accomplishedby spraying or dipping the pretreated part. The proper pretreatmentof each part shall be specified on the Engineer
10、ing drawing.3.5 APPEARANCEThe parts as coated shall be dull charcoal gray to black in color,uniform in coverage and free from visual imperfections such ascracks, chips, tears or contaminants.3.6 FILM THICKNESSThe coating thickness s hall be 5 - 20 micrometers or as specifiedon the Engineering drawin
11、g and adequate to meet the specified saltspray resistance.3.7 FILM PROPERTIESTests are to be completed on components whenever possible. Thefollowing test results were run on test panels and are used toestablish a baseline for qualification. Test results on componentparts may vary and underscore the
12、need to run tests on the actualcomponents. In all cases, application of the coating must be doneby an approved source as the proper application of the material isas important as the material itself.3.7.1 Coefficient of Friction .02 - .05(ASTM D 2714)3.7.2 Endurance Life(ASTM D 2625, Procedure A)Aver

15、ive times without exposingbare metal. A slight discoloration from the lubricating pigment isnot objectionable.3.9 CORROSION RESISTANCE(ASTM B 117)Where corrosion resistance is required, the engineering drawingshall specify the minimum exposure time. For fasteners, corrosionresistance shall be conduc
16、ted in accordance to WX100.3.10 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent inall characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Prior to making any change in the properties, composition,construction, color, processing or labelin
17、g of the materialoriginally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchanges affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequirements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written
18、approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, test samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, applyto the materials addressed by this document. 19、pecification WSS-M99P9999-A1.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMaterials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approvalof their materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffected Purchasing, Design and M
20、aterials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by aqualified and authorized representative of the test facility,demonstrating full compliance with all the requirements of th
21、isspecification (test results, not nominal values), the materialdesignation and code number, and test specimens for Ford evaluation.Fords engineering approval of a material will be based on itsperformance to this specification and on an assessment of suitabilityfor intended processes and/or applications. Upon approval, the materialwill be added to the Engineering Material Approved Source List.
