This standard provides a system for specifying significant properties of seal materials as used in products such as radial lip seal and o-rings. It is based on the principle that for critical parts such as seals, it is desirable to specify

3、 the type of the compound and to base as many properties as possible on measurements made on actual parts (or on sections taken from parts). 1.1 The system comprises tabulations of physical and chemical characteristics of seal materials; each represented by a letter and/or number symbol. By the use

Shall be evaluated on test pieces cut from seals after immersion in ASTM reference fluid according to ASTM D471 or after heat aging according to ASTM D573 and shall conform t

For new product submissions, or when a change in chemical composition of an existing product has occurred, a complete copy of the Material Safety Data Sheet/Safety Data Sheet must be submitted in compliance with the

19、 Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) requirements or other country-specific MSDS/SDS requirements. In addition, product MSDS/SDS submissions must be in compliance with specific country General Motors TMC003 Material Safety Data Sheet/Safety Data Sheet guidanc

20、e documents where available. 5.6 All materials supplied to this standard must comply with the requirements of GMW3059, Restricted and Reportable Substances for Parts. 6 Approved Sources Engineering qualifications of an approved source are required for this standard. Only sources listed in the GM Mat

21、erials File under this standard number have been qualified by Engineering as meeting the requirements of this standard.
