Rigid and Semirigid Plastics : The test piece shall con

、firm to the dimensions shown in Table 1 and Fig. 2. The Type test piece is the preferred test piece and shall be used where sufficient material having a thickness of 7mm or less is available. The Type test piece may be used when a material dose not break in the narrow section with the preferred Type

、 test piece. The Type test piece shall be used where only limited material having a thickness of 4mm or less is available for evaluation, or where a large number of test pieces are to be exposed in a limited space (thermal and environmental stability tests etc.). The Type test piece should be used w

、hen direct comparisons are required between materials in different rigidity cases (that is, nonrigid and semirigid). The Type test piece must be used for all materials with a thickness of greater than 7mm but not more than 14mm. 5.2.3. Nonrigid Plastics : The test piece shall confirm to the dimensio

、ns shown in Table 1 and Fig. 2. The Type test piece shall be used for testing nonrigid plastics with a thickness of 4mm or less. The Type test piece must be used for all materials with a thickness greater than 7mm but more than 14mm. 5.2.4. Reinforced Composites : The test piece for reinforced compo

、sites including highly orthotropic laminates, shall confirm to the dimensions of the Type test piece shown in Table 1 and Fig. 2. 5.2.5. In case of Film, the nominal width of the test pieces shall be 5.0 to 25.4mm range and a width-thickness ratio of at least 8 shall be used. A test piece gage lengt

、h of 250mm shall be considered as standard. When this length is not feasible, test sections as short as 100mm may be used, if it has been shown that results are not appreciably affected. 5.3. 25、er. Here, the marking lines shall not be applied by scratching, punching or pressing. And when using the recording instrument or adhesive, it shall be guaranteed that the substance does not affect the test piece. 5.4. Number of test pieces 5.4.1. 26、material, at least 5 test pieces shall be tested. 5.4.2. If the product to be tested is composed of aeolotropic material, at least 5 test pieces shall be tested respectively in the horizontal and vertical direction. 6. CONDITIONING 6.1. 27、iate drawings or material specifications. Unless otherwise specified, test pieces shall be stored at (232) and (505)% relative humidity for not less than 40hours prior to test. 6.2. Measure the width and thickness of the test pieces at minimum 5 points along the length of the marking line. If a test piece shows a

、 difference not less than 0.1 mm between the maximum and minimum measured values in thickness or width, it shall be excluded from the test. 7.2. Unless otherwise specified, conduct the test under the standard temperature and humidity condition. 7.3. Align the clamp to tighten the test piece in such

、way that the long axis of the clamp coincides with the extension direction of the test piece. Tighten the grips evenly and firmly to the degree necessary to prevent slippage of the test piece during the test. 7.4. Attach the extension indicator to the testing machine. 7.5. Speed of testing shall be

、the relative rate of motion of grips. Determine chosen speed of testing by the specification for the material being tested, or by agreement between those. Apply the stress to the test piece at a speed specified in Table 2. 7.5.1. In case of Film, the speed of testing shall be calculated as follows.

、A = B C Where, A : rate of grip separation (mm/min.) , B : initial distance between grips (mm) C : initial strain rate (mm/mmmin) The initial strain rate shall be as in table 3 unless otherwise indicated by the specification for the material being tested.
