3、t standardizing the engine oil filterability test method, which is to measure deposits formation tendency of engine oil that can collect in the oil filter. 1.2 Applicability. This standard applies to measuring deposit formation tendency of engine oil through simulation of the case in which engine oi

10、lder (Millipore XX30 012 00 effective filtering area R 0.6 cm2). 3.1.10 AC 40 automobile oil filtering paper (MS-4275). 3.1.11 Stop watch capable of measuring time in sequence. 4 Procedures 4.1 Equipment and Sample Preparation. 4.1.1 Filter Holder Effective Filtering Area Calculation. The effective
11、filtering area of the new filter can be obtained by measuring flow time and calculating average flow time of reference fluid (GMR 3108) whose average filtering rate is known. The filtering area can be obtained by the following formula (1). The filtering area thus obtained is used for calculating a s
12、eries of flow rate measured at the filter holder. Refer to example of calculation in Table 1. This calculation procedure can be applied to each new filter holder and can also be used to correct the system when compressive air generator, pressure gage or batch of MS-4275 filtering paper is changed. T
13、o compensate for possible variation in the pressure gage, pressure can be adjusted within a range of 7 KPa to keep the average flow time of reference fluid (GMR 3108) time to 5.5 6.5 seconds. 4.1.1.1 Effective Filtering Area Calculation The filtering area is calculated using the following formula an
14、d GMR 3108 reference oil whose flow rate is 1.21 ml/s.cm2.
