Determining the force fit of exhaust system pipe connections in laboratory test. 1.2 Foreword. Not applicable. 1.3 Applicability. For all exha

3、ust system pipe connections which are connected by means of a clamp. 2 References Note: Only the latest approved standards are applicable unless otherwise specified. 2.1 External Standards/Specifications. None 2.2 GM Standards/Specifications. GMW15261 3 Resources 3.1 Facilities. Not applicable. 3.2

4、Equipment. 3.2.1 Heating oven to condition the pipe connection to +600 C for 1 h. 3.2.2 Torsion testing device. 3.2.2.1 Data acquisition (X-Y recorder). 3.2.2.2 Torque load cell with a measuring range of (10 to 500) Nm. 3.2.2.3 Torque angle gauge with a measuring range of (0 to 90). 3.2.2.4 Leak mea

5、suring equipment according to GMW15261. 3.3 Test Vehicle/Test Piece. The test shall be performed on 5 new 300 mm long pipe sections manufactured under production conditions, the dimensions of which are the upper tolerance range, according to the drawing specifications. The surface properties of the

6、pipe sections shall correspond to the series production parts, as per the part drawing for the pipe. 3.4 Test Time. 8、 2011 Page 2 of 4 4.2 Conditions. 4.2.1 Environmental Conditions. Not applicable. 4.2.2 Test Conditions. Deviations from the requirements of this standard shall have been agreed upon. Such requirements shall be specified on component drawings, test certificates, reports, etc. 4.3 Instructions. 4.3.1

9、 Pairing the Pipe Sections. To pair the pipe sections, the 300 mm long sections of insert and push-on pipes shall be measured in the connection area. The outer lower (minimum) and upper (maximum) diameters of the insert pipe shall be determined. The inner lower (minimum) and upper (maximum) diameter

10、s of the push-on pipe shall be determined. The measured values shall be documented in Table 1. To pair the pipe sections, the tolerances of the insert and push-on pipes (column I in Table 1) shall be in the upper range. When mounting the pipes, which shall be performed according to the part drawing, the following shall be noted: a. the depth to which th

13、e insert pipe is inserted into the push-on pipe, b. the positioning of the clamp on the push-on pipe and c. the bolt tightening torque (Ma) of the clamp screw connection. 4.3.3 Measuring the Leakage Rate of the Pipe Connection. Determining the leakage rate of the pipe connection according to GMW1526

14、1. Determining the leakage rate shall be performed following paragraph 4.3.2. The permissible leakage rate can be taken from the SSTS/CTS/part drawing. 17、ber of the insert pipe. A Test number of the push-on pipe. Note 1: Nominal value in accordance with CTS/part drawing 4.3.4 Conditioning the Pipe Connection. According to paragraph 4.3.3, the pipe connection shall be conditioned for 1 h in the heating oven at +600 C. After conditioning, the pipe conn

18、ection shall be removed from the heating oven and allowed to cool naturally to room temperature of (+23 5) C. 4.3.5 Testing the Force Fit. The force fit of the pipe connection shall be determined in a torsion testing device at (+23 5) C following paragraph 4.3.4. The push-on pipe shall be fixed to t

19、he test device. A torsional moment up to 200 Nm maximum shall be applied to the insert pipe at a measuring rate of 45/minute to twist it. The slipping moment shall be obtained from the displayed torsion characteristic and documented in Table 2. Finally the residual torque shall be determined at the

20、clamp screw connection of the test part and documented in Table 2. 5 Data 5.1 Calculations. To ensure that statements made about the calculated leakage rates, pipe torsional moments and residual torques, with respect to the required nominal values, as per the SSTS/CTS/part drawing, are as reliable a

21、s possible, the data shall be evaluated using the statistical method of linear Gaussian distribution. 5.2 Interpretation of Results. The calculated results shall be compared with the specifications in the SSTS/CTS/part drawing and evaluated accordingly. 5.3 Test Documentation. The results shall be c

22、ompiled in a test report as follows. 5.3.1 Results Summary and Evaluation. x Brief evaluation of results (OK, NOK). x Test specification and, if required, any deviations. x Comparison of results with the specifications in the SSTS/CTS/part drawing. 5.3.2 Description of Test. x Description of test se

23、t-up with photo. x Brief description of testing machine. x Test equipment calibration.
