Change Notice: Reformatted and Editorial Changes 1.0 SCOPE This method covers a procedure for determining the water tolerance of petroleum fluids. 2.0 APPARATUS (1) Mechanical paint shaker, Red Devil No. 30 or equivalent (2
5、) 4 ounce (118 milliliters) bottle with cap (3) Graduated cylinder, 100 milliliters (4) 100 milliliter centrifuge tube per ASTM D 2273 (5) Pipette or syringe capable of delivering 1.0 milliliter (6) Stopper to fit centrifuge tube 3.0 PROCEDURE (1) Prepare the following sample: Add 1 milliliter of di
6、stilled water to 99 milliliters of test fluid in the 4 ounce (118 milliliters) bottle. (2) Shake the prepared sample for 5 minutes in the mechanical shaker. (3) Transfer immediately to a 100 milliliter centrifuge tube. (4) Stopper and let the agitated solutions stand undisturbed in a vertical positi
7、on for 168 hours (7 days) at 70 to 80F (21 to 27C), then examine for emulsion, water, clearness and settlement. 4.0 REPORT (1) Level of emulsion, water and settlements to the nearest 0.1 milliliter. (2) The clearness or turbidity of the solution.
