2、method for evaluating the performance of a dry film of paint when sanded. 2.0 MATERIAL 2.1 Bonderite CD- 10 or Bonderite 958 zinc phosphated steel panels, 100 x 150 mm (4 x 6 inches), available from Advanced Coatings Technologies, 273 Industrial Drive, Hillsdale, Michigan 49242. OR Fiber glass reinf
3、orced plastic panels available from Materials Engineering, Navistar International Transportation Corp., P. O. Box 1109, Fort Wayne, Indiana. 46801-1 109. 2.2 No. 360 sandpaper 2.3 No. 280 Stearated sandpaper 3.0 PROCEDURE 3.1 Prepare the appropriate quantity and type of panels for the grade of paint
4、 being tested according to the procedure specified in Test Method GT-13, Panel Preparation, proceeding up to but not including the step in which the primed and dried panels are sanded. 3.1.1 Two Bonderite CD- 10 or Bonderite 958 zinc phosphated steel panels - Grades -50, -55, and -55W 3.1.2 Four Bon
5、derite CD- 10 or Bonderite 958 zinc phosphated steel panels - Grades -53 and -53A 3.1.3 Two fiber glass reinforced plastic panels - Grades -52 and -52HS For grades where four panels are prepared, two alternative drying procedures, an air dry and an oven dry, are specified. For these grades, two pane
6、ls will be dried according to the air drying procedure and the remaining two panels will be dried according to the oven drying procedure. For grades where two panels are prepared, only one drying procedure is specified: for these grades, both panels will be dried according to this procedure. 3.2 Wet
7、 sand one-half of each panel with No. 360 sandpaper. Dry sand the other half of each panel with No. 280 stearated sandpaper. 3.3 Examine the sandpaper with the unaided eye; any evidence of loading by the paint or balling up will constitute a failure. For those grades where two panels are prepared, b
8、oth will be tested. For those grades where four panels are prepared, both air-dried test panels and both oven dried test panels will be tested. 4.0 REPORT Report whether the paint passes or fails this test.
