The ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) is a permanent organ of the ITU. The ITU-T is responsible f

9、or studying technical, operating and tariff questions and issuing Recommendations on them with a view to standardizing telecommunications on a worldwide basis. The World Telecommunication Standardization Conference (WTSC), which meets every four years, establishes the topics for study by the IT-T St

10、udy Groups which, in their turn, produce Recommendations on these topics. The approval of Recommendations by the Members of the IT-T is covered by the procedure laid down in WTSC Resolution No. 1. In some areas of information technology which fall within ITU-Ts purview, the necessary standards are p

11、repared on a collaborative basis with IS0 and IEC. NOTE In this Recommendation, the expression “Administration” is used for conciseness to indicate both a telecommunication administration and a recognized operating agency. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS The ITU draws attention to the possibility that

12、the practice or implementation of this Recommendation may involve the use of a claimed Intellectual Property Right. The ITU takes no position concerning the evidence, validity or applicability of claimed Intellectual Property Rights, whether asserted by IT members or others outside of the Recommenda

As of the date of approval of this Recommendation, the ITU had not received notice of intellectual property, protected by patents, which may be required to implement this Recommendation. However, implementors are cautioned that this may not represent the latest information

The broadcast channel may also carry embedded ACD/ACD and/or DDC from the interactive service provider to the user, possibly for controlling an application for which broadcast programme associated data is being supplied by

The interaction channel carries content from the interactive service provider to the user, and may also carry user contribution content back to the interactive service provider. The interaction ch

The interactive service provider may also need to send content, either to the broadcast service provider, or to the broadcast network adapter. The latter will require the interactive service provider to send ACD/ACD

A bidirectional application control and communication channel will also be required between the broadcast service provider and the interactive service provider for synchronization purposes. The network independent pr

This terminology is explained in Davic 1.3 1161. 4 Recommendation ITU-T 5.111 (03/98) STD-ITU-T RECMN J.LLL-ENGL 1998 4862591 0649606 079 The following basic realizations of mapping logical strea

44、ms S1, S2 onto the system model are possible as illustrated in Figure 2: a) Broadcast channel carries S1 from broadcast service provider or from interactive service provider to the user; Broadcast channel canies S2 (ACD/ACD and/or DDC) forward to the user; Interaction channel carries S2 backward (AC

45、D/ACD). b) Broadcast channel canies S1 as in a); Interaction channel caries 52 forward (ACD/ACD andor DDC) and S2 backward (ACDIACD). c) Interaction channel carries S 1 from interactive service provider to the user; Interaction channel carries S2 as in b). d) Interaction channel carries S 1 (user co

The SIS protocol stacks provide a generic solution for communicati

In the case where a direct connection between a STB and an interactive service provider exists, the SIS protocol stacks provide a solution for the STB and the server. Where there is not a direct connection to an interactive service provider (e.g. in traversing multipl

48、e networks), the protocol stack at the server end may be different to the STB stack for the mapping between the iP layer and the underlying physical layer (an example of this is a point-to-point connection from the STB to the first point of presence in the network, with an X.25 connection from the n

49、etwork to the interactive service provider). Note that an exception to the use of PPP is acceptable as an option, in the case of a cable return channel, where IP may be carried over ATM. In this case, LLC/SNAP as defined in RFC 1483 3 shall be used for encapsulating the IP over AALS. The default MTU size shall be 9180 bytes as defined in RFC 1577 4. If another case arises where a PPP link is not used, then an equivalent encapsulation method will be specified as part of the network dependent protocol stack. In ord
